THE OPPORTUNITY IN A NUTSHELL
You? Tech-savvy University (of Applied Sciences) student with knowledge in programming and eagerness to work with children. Ability to teach in Finnish.
Role? Coding Teachers to plan and organise the first ever Schibsted Kids Coding Camp in Schibsted Finland! Spend a memorable day on 24.11.2023 revealing secrets of programming with Scratch to 8-12 year-old kids together with two other student teachers.
Salary? €400. We estimate you to spend about 20 hours prepping and teaching.
Location? Our office in Helsinki, just a few steps away from the central railway station.
Company? Schibsted gathering together Nordic marketplaces Tori, Oikotie, Bilbasen, Blocket, DBA & FINN hosting 325 million monthly visits.

WHO ARE YOU?

  • University (of Applied Sciences) student with knowledge of programming , preferably with experience in Scratch.

  • Ability to teach and guide children.

  • Eagerness to work with children , previous experience working with the future generation would be a win for us!

  • Fluency in Finnish and English: while our company language is English the common language for the kids is Finnish. Thus, important that you master it.

  • Able to provide a clean record police certificate before employment as you’ll be working with children.



WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?

As a Coding Teacher, you’re part of the 3 person teacher team and are responsible for planning and teaching the curriculum for the very first Kids Coding Camp (KCC) together with the Schibsted Project Lead. We invite 15 of our employees' children aged 8-12 to the KCC at the office where the next generation coders learn programming, make new friends and play. You use Scratch to teach programming and empower kids to create their own project or game. Your focus is to create a memorable day full of learnings aiming for the little ones to feel the thrill of mastering a new skill while not forgetting to include playtime along the way! How about the time commitment from your side? You can expect approximately 20 hours of work spread out between the planning and execution of the camp. It’s up to you to agree on how and when you prepare the teaching curriculum together with your two colleagues but please already make sure that you can make it to our office for the teachers kick off on Tue 24.10., the final prepping on Thu 23.11. and the actual event day on Fri 24.11.
