Capgemini is looking for a Design Ops Manager to establish, build and lead our DesignOps efforts. You will facilitate collaboration across our UX design, UX research, engineering, marketing, business, and product management teams. This is a new function within the User Experience team, and the ideal candidate will work alongside UX leaders to revolutionize the way we approach design. Your key objectives are to help optimize our operations, scale growth, and be a spokesperson for design within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Human-Centered Approach: Emphasize the importance of human-centricity in all design activities, providing designers with the tools and processes necessary to respond to customer needs and envision future improvements.
  • Processes: Establish and optimize key design rituals and processes that facilitate information flow across stakeholders, teams, management, and operations. These processes combat silos, promote knowledge sharing, support decision-making, define success metrics, capture feedback, and celebrate achievements. You will also determine when to leverage various methodologies like lean, SCRUM, and agile for optimal outcomes.
  • Enablers: Identify and leverage the tools and assets that enable efficient work within our design teams. This includes communication tools, collaboration facilitation, review mechanisms, and feedback channels, all of which promote better team efficiencies and remove friction points in collaboration with other teams.
  • Structure: Define the organizational structure within which our design teams operate, whether within specific functional teams (e.g., UX Team, marketing, IT) or across the entire organization. Ensure that design operates at the right altitude for the problem at hand, whether it's a strategic or tactical challenge. Physical working environments should also align with the flow of work.
  • Culture: Foster a meaningful culture within our organization where designers understand how their contributions enable our overall purpose. Empower them with autonomy, supported by processes, tools, and structure.
  • Results: Develop a robust framework for measuring impact, encompassing business metrics (ROI, revenue/spend KPIs, customer satisfaction/retention), efficiency indicators (time to market, ways of working), and cultural outcomes (job satisfaction, employee impact). Create and uphold design standards that define exceptional customer experiences and ensure their effective delivery to the market.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Design Operations, preferably in a leadership or managerial role, demonstrating a strong understanding of DesignOps principles and best practices.
  • Solid understanding of Figma, FigJam, Miro, Jira, Confluence and similar tools
  • A background in design (e.g., graphic design, UX/UI design, product design) is highly beneficial to effectively communicate with and support design teams.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and align DesignOps efforts with the organization's overall goals and customer-centric vision.
  • Proficiency in establishing and optimizing design processes, including familiarity with agile methodologies and other design-related frameworks.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills to facilitate cross-functional teamwork between design, engineering, marketing, and other departments.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and adapt to evolving design needs, keeping the team aligned with industry trends and best practices.
