Senior Developer - Planning and Logistics

Northvolt‘s journey started in Västerås, Sweden with Northvolt Labs, a prototyping factory already in operation. The first phase of giga-factory - Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå is operating, while further expansion project has already kicked off.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start, building the landscape of first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play a significant role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

We have a pretty awesome job offer for a Senior Developer within our bold and passionate Planning and Logistics Team at Northvolt. You'd be located in Västerås or Skellefteå and have the opportunity to secure Northvolt’s successful growth in Sweden, Poland, Germany and beyond.

As Planning and Logistics Senior Developer you will focus on designing, procuring and implementing logistics set-ups for all of Northvolt business units and activities. You will drive, interdepartmental projects, big and small, pulling together stakeholders from across the Northvolt landscape, both within Supply Chain, as well as beyond. Everything we do is new and at Northvolt we do it for the first time - we need your help. Every now and then, you might also find yourself assisting your colleagues as a special agent deployed to a task force. Like James Bond, but minus the gun and the Martini.

We:

In broad terms and without going into too much detail, Team Planning and Logistics looks after everything that moves or needs to be stored. Before it does, we also need to do quite a bit of planning, but that's a separate story.

Our mission is to support Northvolt’s growth and expansion with logistical and planning expertise and to create a robust operational framework, within which Northvolt units can operate. In parallel, we must secure sustainability of our solutions while maintaining supply chain efficiency.

You:

You have worked with logistics on a global level, but your professional home is Europe or closely tied to it. And look... we know that there is no candidate that ticks all the boxes... we get this, but there's a few things (we understood by now) that are rather important.

So, broadly speaking, we would really want you to have strong background in the field of planning, moving and storing of materials, components and finished goods. Both across the world, as well as on-site and inside a plant.

Excellent understanding of end to end supply chain in a manufacturing industry is super important - the projects you'd be running stretch well beyond one type, mode or direction of flow.

We realised as well, that those of us, who had in their past built big from nothing or from little, find their place at Northvolt much easier. So if have been driving or been engaged in greenfield or brownfield projects, where logistical solutions, routes and networks were built from the ground up or heavily re-designed - you will feel at home.

And lastly, since most of our customers are car or truck manufacturers, it would be ideal, if you did the things above in an OEM, tier 1 or similar industrial manufacturing environment.

Some of the things you would get to do on the job (actual order will likely be quite different):

  • Lead key Planning and Logistics development projects, managing cross-functional teams and individual contributors

  • Take part in designing and building of end-to-end logistics, connecting Northvolt's suppliers, factories, customers, recycling locations and aftermarket requirements

  • Analyse Northvolt's Planning and Logistics end-to-end execution process, indicate gaps and overlaps, and drive (re-)definition of RACIs

  • Support in setting up different logistics IT systems and modules (ERP/WMS/TMS)

  • On an ad-hoc basis support Northvolt factories with your operational excellence experience

  • Support and coach Planning and Logistics Coordinators, Specialists and Developers

  • We are looking for a great team player who wants to be a part of building a world class logistics department at Northvolt.

As Northvolt develops, so will you and your range of responsibilities.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
