With our 130 years of experience along the Norwegian coast, we have connected coastal communities and given our guests an authentic experience whether they sail short or far, from port to port or full round trip. At the same time, we have transported important cargo between ports. Our original coastal voyage is known worldwide as "the world's most beautiful coastal voyage", combining beautiful scenery and authentic culture with delicious food experiences. In addition, we have our beautiful ship, MS Trollfjord, which sails to Svalbard in the summer and North Cape in the winter.

Now, Hurtigruten Norway are ready to increase the number of commercial ships on this iconic voyage. MS Otto Sverdrup sails from Hamburg to Norwegian destinations with primarily German guests, where we want new colleagues who can communicate in German.

We are now looking for a pastry chef with a desire to work with our renowned food concept Norway's Coastal Kitchen. At MS Otto Sverdrup you can, among other things, make exquisite desserts for our fine dining restaurant, the main restaurant, and delicious temptations for afternoon tea.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Production and processing of cold foods, desserts and cakes

  • In collaboration with ass. chef follow current menus, but still be a driving force for the development of dishes, menus and dishes according to Hurtigruten's value foundation "Norway's Coastal Kitchen"

  • Cleaning in accordance with current cleaning plans

  • Inform superiors about nonconformities, so that this can be handled by responsible

  • Co-responsible for ensuring that the ship's operational and safety management systems, including internal routines food, are followed up within the area of responsibility

  • Other upcoming tasks

Qualifications/Experience

  • Certificate of apprenticeship and work experience as a pastry chef. Documentable and relevant experience (minimum 5 years) can compensate for educational requirements.
  • Personal suitability will be emphasized
  • Must have good English language skills. Scandinavian language is desirable, but not a requirement
  • Hurtigruten set high demands for safety on board, which means that all employees must have; Basic safety course for seafarers, Crowd and Crisis course, and approved health certificate from authorized seafarer doctor. There is no requirement to have completed the courses before applying, but you must be willing to take them, and please note that the individual must pay for the courses themselves
