Now, Hurtigruten Norway are ready to increase the number of commercial ships on this iconic voyage. MS Otto Sverdrup sails from Hamburg to Norwegian destinations with primarily German guests, where we want new colleagues who can communicate in German.

We are now looking for an assistant chef with an interest in good, local ingredients and a desire to work with our renowned food concept Norway's coastal kitchen. We hope you will help create food delivered by Norwegian, local producers along the coast, where sustainability, animal welfare, unique products and the good stories are in focus. Duties and responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the ass. chef shall include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the daily operation and production of cold and hot kitchen
Responsible for follow-up of breakfast, lunch and evening buffet, as well as the food in the mess
Responsible for ensuring that food is prepared according to set menus/information from the chef and in cooperation with this ensure that the withdrawal/consumption of provisions corresponds to the number of passengers
In cooperation with the chef ensure the development of existing products and routines
Efficient and economical utilization of available resources
Co-responsible for provision rooms and proper cleaning
Assist in the training of galley personnel
Inform your immediate manager about nonconformities, so that this can be handled by those responsible
Responsible for ensuring that the ship's operational and safety management systems, including internal control food routines, are followed up within its area of responsibility
Other pending work in the hotel ministry by order of the chef and hotel manager
During downtime, the ass. chef shall participate in incidental work
The assistant chef is required to follow the procedures, routines and instructions prepared for the position
Qualifications/Experience
Must be fluent in Norwegian and English
Desirable with good knowledge of HACCP
Desirable with medical first aid courses
Personal suitability will be emphasized
Hurtigruten set high demands for safety on board, which means that all employees must have; Basic safety course for seafarers, Crowd and Crisis course, and approved health certificate from authorized seafarer doctor. There is no requirement to have completed the courses before applying, but you must be willing to take them, and please note that the individual must pay for the courses themselves
