About the market

Our US operation consists of 4 locations which are New York, Washington, Chicago and San Francisco. Together, we make up one of the most successful, progressive, and dynamic business units in Business Sweden in the largest economy in the world.

We help Swedish companies enter and grow on the US market, understand market dynamics, identify local partners, appreciate the regulatory landscape, and build out their services or product offering. We support several industries spanning across Energy and Transport, Smart Industry, Healthcare and Life Science, Digital Technologies as well as Retail and Consumer Goods.

What do we expect from you

You will be responsible of leading, developing and inspire the growing Consultancy team in San and you will report to the Trade Commissioner, US. We believe that you have experience and an interest in growing and developing talent and thrive when seeing people succeed in their roles. In your role as Head of San Francisco Office it comes natural for you to contribute to a performance and value driven company culture.

You will also play a key role in the business development team, drive senior client dialogues, and insight driven initiatives of new business opportunities, as well as prospecting and developing customer value propositions. You will contribute to ensuring that we are seen as a trusted advisor, with a clear point of view relating to our clients’ most pressing challenges on the U.S. market. Client dialogues are expected to be carried out independently where you will conduct outreach, proposal development and closure.

You will also scope, lead and deliver projects that provide support to leading Swedish companies in their international business development and expansion in the U.S. The projects involve market expansion, sales support, stakeholder analysis and operational support.

In addition, you will also support to engage key US-companies in order to attract investments from US-companies to Sweden, in sectors such as AI and Datacenters, Smart Transport, Energy and Life Science.

Skills & Requirements

Skills & Requirements

We are looking for a person who has experience from business development and leading teams, both in consulting assignments and as a manager. As a person, we are looking for someone who is a team player, with a business-oriented mindset and have a positive and humble "can do attitude".

Technical Skills:

  • Relevant work experience, with probably at least 8 years of experience in related business and roles
  • Higher academic degree, probably a Master of Science in Business, Administration or/and Engineering
  • A high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement

Soft Skills:

  • Management and leadership experience, leading teams and act as a role model and grow talent by inspiring and developing direct reports
  • Successful strategic sales and strong client service business acumen, with a proven track record of developing and executing deals with deep customer insight, strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Interaction with external stakeholders, ideally both government and private sector
  • Self-motivator and accountable team player
  • Thrive on working on multiple client dialogues and engagements at once, and seek out cross-functional engagement

A Plus:

  • Proficiency in Swedish
  • Previous experience from working with management consulting or other advisory services on the North American / California market is meriting
  • Previous experience from working in or leading consultancy assignments within any of the following industries: Digital Technologies, Healthcare and Life Science, Transport and Automotive, Green Energy, Smart Industry
