WithSecure is looking for a versatile and highly skilled Strategic Research and Development Engineer to join our global CTO team. You will utilize your full stack development skills to contribute to the development of new software applications and infrastructure, working closely with the CTO and cross-functional teams to play a pivotal role in enhancing our organization's future business opportunities.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated full stack software engineer to work on the UI interfaces and data processing and visualization that the CTO team are creating to deliver future businesses and services to our customers. The role will be mainly focused on producing proof of concepts for experiments within the CTO Team from design through to build, taking into consideration feedback from pilot clients to improve the product/service potentials.

The location for the position is remote - but we do offer possibilities for an office based location across our Finland and UK offices

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop an implement rapid prototypes for CTO experiments
• Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams within the CTO team and wider business
• Add your perspective to influence the engineering culture of the CTO experimentation team
• Be an energetic ‘self-starter’ with the ability to take ownership and be accountable for deliverables.
• Evaluate and assess potential emerging security technologies, products, and solutions relevant to our business strategy
• Provide recommendations on new and existing security technologies and tools using your extensive research findings.

You’ll use…

• Languages such as Rust, Python or Go
• VueJS in our UI Framework
• Linux, Docker, Kubernetes
• DB – SQL, NoSQL, OpenSearch
• AWS/Azure services
• CI/CD technologies, e.g. Jenkins

What are we looking for?

• Ideally 3+ years' experience in software engineering – but we’re open to less!
• A versatile programmer who can rapidly build proof-of-concept solutions with a passion for innovation and a curiosity to explore emerging technologies and trends.
• Familiarity with fundamental security concepts, e.g. certificates and encryption, and common networking protocols such as DNS and HTTP/S
• Degree educated, with at least a 2.1 in a numerate subject such as Computer Science, Math's, Engineering
• Innovative mindset, to work on unique solutions to common problems
• Ability to grasp the inner workings and philosophy of the WithSecure Cybersecurity products and services
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment with English as your working language

Bonus points

• Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a track record of delivering creative and scalable solutions.
• Experience in multiple programming languages (e.g. Rust and Go or Go and Python) would be beneficial. Knowledge of comparable languages will be considered
