We are looking for a Category Purchasing Specialist/Buyer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate purchasing team in Västerås. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing foils purchasing and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

The Category Purchasing Specialist will contribute to build a sustainable and resilient supply base, develop commodity strategies with the different stakeholders and recommend the suppliers, will ensure that suppliers deliveries and drive the supplier optimizations related to cost, quality, reliability. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a new team, contributing with ideas and solutions. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Realize the suppliers onboarding, including Due diligence and Sustainability analysis, samples negotiation and PO

  • Prepare and issue the Request For Quotation and evaluate the suppliers feedback and capabilities, in collaboration with a category manager

  • Contribute to the negotiations to the best possible Quality Cost Delivery Sustainability contractual conditions with suppliers to help achieve Best in Class competitiveness of Northvolt Programs, including localization in Europe

  • Works tightly with the Category Manager to elaborate the purchasing strategy and drive the suppliers optimizations and develop a supply base that fits Northvolt’ s needs in terms of technology, quality, reliability, cost competitiveness, capacity, sustainability, security of supply and match to company values

  • Collaborate with the other stakeholders: Purchasing project, Cell Design, Process Engineering, Logistics or internal clients in full consistency with projects’ QCD objectives, including risk assessment and mitigation, drives continuous improvement

Skills & Requirements


We believe that you have :

  • an Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years experience as sourcing manager / sourcing specialist of direct materials from an industrial setting
  • previous experience in raw material or chemicals procurement
  • a track record of being curious, technically educated, data driven
  • excellent English written and oral skills, other European or Asian languages are a plus
