Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

Main responsibilities:
- Interact with customers in order to understand the products use cases and requirements through the whole project
- Brainstorm and develop early product concepts
- Mechanical design considering mechanical loads and vibrations
- Mechanical design of protective enclosures to provide protection against environmental impacts and pollutions
- Design for manufacturing and cost
- Involve in regular discussions with cross functional team and suppliers
- Creation of technical drawings for customers and manufacturing
- Support the release of product and documentation in Teamcenter
- Participate in prototyping of designed and developed parts like fixtures, mock ups etc.
- Participate and contribute in process development and continous improvement of processes and methodology.

Skills & Requirements
Qualifications/Education/Experience
- Newly graduate with Master’s degree or Min. 2 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree or equivalent background, where part of the experience is in the field of power electronics or high performance li-ion batteries
- Strong Hands-On computer aided design skills
- Experience in plastic parts and injection molding
- Experience in various mechanical joining methods
- Experience in Geometric dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Excellent analytical skills, especially in the field of design for safety, production and serviceability
- Experience working in international teams and with customers
- Excellent English, written and oral skills
- Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management
- Experience from a start-up environment is a plus
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently

About the company
Northvolt is a European supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. Alongside Northvolt Ett, Northvolt is also establishing a manufacturing site for battery systems in Gdansk, Poland. This facility, Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, will industrialize and produce world leading battery systems in order to meet the increased demand for complete battery solutions on the European market. The factory is a highly automated, state-of-the-art production facility for battery modules and energy storage solutions.
We are currently in an exciting fast-growing phase and operate in a dynamic environment, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs in Västerås, as well as Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden, in Gdansk, for production of battery systems.
