Associate - Strategy and Corporate Finance

We are now looking for a driven and experienced Associate - Strategy and Coporate Finance. By joining us, you will be at the forefront of building a new company from scratch, growing Northvolt's footprint in Germany and contribute to building one of the largest European battery factories. Our team is currently based in Hamburg with an outreach to our planned gigafactory in Heide, Schleswig-Holstein. About the job

As Associate - Strategy and Coporate Finance for Drei and Northvolt’s German operations you will be a critical member to identify business opportunities, analyze and update business models as well as set-up and drive our projects. You will work closely with both the operational and functional teams (both technical and business related) within Northvolt to drive strategic initiatives in a highly cross-functional environment. An outstanding impact, top management exposure and steap learning curve in this position is guaranteed. You have the ability to shape Northvolt's setup in Germany and grow a lighthouse project for Germany's energy and industrial transition from almost day one.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify potential strategic business opportunities, including new ventures and partnerships through market research and close stakeholder contact.
  • Conceptualize complex business challenges and develop actionable, high-impact strategies.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modelling to support funding initiatives and investment decisions.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning, budgeting, and decision-making processes.

The person we are looking for is highly organized and result-driven with strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills. In addition, this person should be able to communicate complex ideas succinctly, both in written presentations and verbally, to a diverse set of stakeholders. You will get the chance to drive work independently and are used to a high paced work environment. Qualities that we cherish are flexibility, friendliness and a sense of humour.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A few years of relevant work experience in banking, strategy consulting or project/program management is preferred
  • A few years of experience from driving projects in cross-functional environments
  • MSc in Industrial engineering, Mechanical engineering, Business, Economics, Finance or similar relevant degree from a top-tier University
  • Excellent financial modelling, Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills

Bonus points for skills:

  • Curious and analytical personality with a passion for challenging the status quo
  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry with strong technical aptitude / ability to quickly understand technology
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent English and German written and oral skills
