A reMarkable Design Department

The Design Departments’ mission is to create functional and exclusive experiences not only appreciated by our customers but also something that creates (everyday) magic. Therefore, we work incessantly in cross-functional teams to build a brand that emphasizes and reinforces our vision for better thinking.
About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer in the DEV unit you will play a key role in the Product Development Process which will help us take the design, user experience, and quality of our product to new heights. Here at reMarkable we strive to make products that we can assure will withstand the usage intended and are simultaneously keeping the products' environmental footprint in consideration.
You will have the opportunity to both work on and lead exciting development projects, some with external DEV partners, and suppliers to achieve our goals.
You will work closely with our product designers and other cross-functional team members in project settings.
For testing samples and prototypes to ensure the theory matches reality in practice, we have a modest ‘Design-lab’ equipped with 3D printers, a variety of equipment, instruments, tools, and materials.
Who are you?
First and foremost you’re a Mechanical Design Engineer who is passionate about your field of expertise, and you enjoy working hard to achieve extraordinary product experiences.
You have a bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Design Engineering and/or Product Design/Development with Engineering specialization
We believe you should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience to be comfortable in this role, but we believe we can adjust the role according to your level of expertise.
As a person, you are structured, inventive, independent and responsible. You are engaging and have good communication skills.
You are goal-oriented, not afraid to have a discussion, and are motivated by continuous development.
Relevant experience with 3D CAD modeling, 2D Drawing and digital structural analysis tools (SolidWorks are considered to be a valuable bonus)
Knowledge of materials and associated production processes
Works well independently, takes responsibility and can be counted on to drive their tasks/projects forward.
It is also an advantage if you have…
Relevant experience with the development of consumer products, consumer electronics (high quality)
Relevant experience with DfX (Design for Excellence)
Interest in, and experience with, consumer electronics is considered an advantage
Great English language skills (both written and verbal)
Experience with PLM systems and procedures as well as enterprise supply chain operations
Norwegian, Chinese or Vietnamese language skills
Experience with development for mass production in Asia with high-quality standards (preferably from a relevant field)
