Want to help millions of people think better?

reMarkable is a Norwegian tech company on a mission to help people all over the world to find focus in a distracted world. We recently confirmed our status as Norway's latest unicorn, with more than 400 employees in Oslo and more than a million devices sold worldwide. In what feels like no time, we've gone from a small startup finding its way to being one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe.

Following the successful launch of the reMarkable 2, which was named one of TIME's top 100 inventions of 2020, and the Type Folio in 2023, we've set ourselves exciting growth and product development goals for the coming years.

With a brand new campus opening in 2024, and exciting products and services in development, we need new colleagues. That’s where you come in. Are you ready to join the exciting growth of a truly unique tech brand?

A reMarkable Design Department

A good design affects us more than we know. With us, it is one of the most important and substantial drivers for perceived value and customer loyalty.

The Design Departments’ mission is to create functional and exclusive experiences not only appreciated by our customers but also something that creates (everyday)magic. Therefore, we work incessantly in cross-functional teams to build a brand that emphasizes and reinforces our vision for better thinking.

About the role

The Mechanical Design Assurance Unit plays a key role in ensuring that our future products are up to the expectations of our customers and our internal quality standards. And as a mechanical design engineer in our unit, you will be fundamental in defining product requirements and validating that our designs are qualified before entering the market.

We are also supporting our current products and you will have the opportunity to lead exciting problem-solving, and improvement initiatives to achieve our goals and solve complex challenges. You will play a central role in solving specific mechanical and cosmetic challenges related to processing and production technologies, as well as materials. This will often include being on high alert during new product introductions, troubleshooting on the fly, and will involve being on-site at production facilities from time to time.

Our unit is involved in many processes from concept validation to the end of life. We do not expect you to tick off on all the requirements, but hopefully you will learn something new and we will learn something from you.

Further tasks and responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis and test to validate mechanical designs, make data-driven decisions to enhance product performance and user satisfaction.

  • Support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production and high-quality output.

  • Actively participate in design reviews, providing valuable insights and solutions to overcome technical challenges.

  • Work with suppliers and vendors to source components and materials that meet our quality standards.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives of existing products through testing, analysis, and iterative design processes.

Who are you?

  • First and foremost you are a mechanical engineer who is passionate about your field of expertise, and dedicated to achieve extraordinary product experiences.

  • You have a bachelors or masters degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • You should have a minimum of three years relevant experience, but we believe we can adjust the role according to your level of expertise.

  • Interest and experience with consumer electronics is an advantage.

  • You excel at problem-solving and continuous improvements, using analytical thinking to overcome challenges and find practical solutions.

  • You have a good understanding of product engineering and development such as design and analysis, technical standards and product requirements.

  • You stay updated with the latest industry trends, materials, and technologies to bring innovative ideas to the table.
