VFX Technology & Innovation Supervisor

As a VFX Technology and Innovation Supervisor at ILP, you will be responsible for driving technological advancements and innovation. You will be responsible for overseeing the practical application of cutting-edge tools and workflows on a global level and show specific by facilitating seamless communication between our Research and Development (R&D) team and Production.

Reporting to the Head of VFX, you will collaborate closely with the Head of R&D, the VFX Program Manager, and other stakeholders to anticipate production and global challenges. You identify internal software development needs and devise effective solutions that align with our company values and culture, while fostering ethical and inclusive development practices.

Your main responsibility is to improve efficiency, optimise processes, and consistently enhance our techniques, artist workflows, and production processes. You will supervise the restructuring and enhancement of existing production workflows and tools, guiding working groups to tackle specific issues. Additionally, you will oversee and coordinate the documentation of these initiatives and assist in identifying and monitoring metrics that measure the effectiveness of the development.

To promote technological advancement, you will stay up to date with current and emerging trends in technology research and development. By leveraging this knowledge, you will actively contribute to the advancement of ILP's technology. You will also create and maintain a comprehensive development plan that incorporates innovation and practical considerations, breaking down projects into manageable tasks.

Your success in this role will hinge on your ability to foster a positive and productive work environment. You will lead collaborative efforts and effective communication by facilitating the sharing of critical information with the production team and involving the right stakeholders in the decision-making process.

You need the following:

In-depth knowledge and understanding of visual effects techniques, processes, and tools used in the industry. Familiarity with various software platforms, such as Houdini, Nuke, Maya, or other relevant VFX software.

Strong technical background with experience in VFX technology development, including programming, scripting, and automation. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C++, or similar languages used in VFX development.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including VFX artists, R&D, production managers and other stakeholders. Ability to facilitate communication and bridge the gap between technical and creative Pirates.

The following are considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) concepts as they relate to VFX technology.
  • Proficiency in game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity, and their integration with VFX pipelines.
