With Germany being the core of European automotive manufacturing, its only natural it should also be a pioneer in scaling up battery cell manufacturing. At Northvolt we are excited to make this happen, and we have recently announced that Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, will be the location of our German Battery Gigafactory. The factory will be built in multiple phases over 5+ years and the factory represent a multi-billion Euro investment project. To enable this project we are now looking for a dedicated and driven Project Quality Manager to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future.
About the job
The purpose of this position is to oversight the quality management of all aspects of the mega project in Heide from Engineering to pre-commissioning.
The Project Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all activities of the project are carried out in compliance with applicable quality standards and regulations. They work closely with the EPCm and execution contractors to establish quality control processes and procedures and oversee the implementation of these processes throughout the project.

You will be part of the Northvolt project team of about 40 employees that will have the overall responsibility of this mega project based in Heide Germany.
About the work environment
The office is currently located in Hamburg with an outreach to Heide, Schleswig-Holstein where the giga-factory will be built. Please don’t apply if you are not willing to move to site.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
To establish and implement a structured Project Quality Management System (PQMS) for the Northvolt Project. The QM will ensure that Northvolt’s requirements regarding Quality are met during each project phase (engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, operation & maintenance).
The QM will create project quality plans and other applicable quality documents covering engineering, procurement, construction for each sub-project. The project quality plans shall interlink the quality assurance systems of Northvolt .
The QM will establish and manage the project quality resources to execute the PQMS. The QM will strongly interact with other project functions such as engineering, HSSE, scheduling and construction planning. Developing, with EPC contractors, the audit plan and monitoring the closure of gaps.
Develops a strategy for engagement of an Independent Verification Body (IVB), where required, and nominated inspection body (NIB) organisations.
Develop project specific Quality Management requirements for contractors and suppliers for inclusion in projects contracts and purchase orders and provides quality input into the supplier bid evaluation process.
Lead supplier capability reviews, pre-purchase order award, to identify the capability of the supplier to meet the project specific requirements.

In addition to these requirements, a Quality Manager in the Construction Industry must have strong attention to detail, be able to work under pressure, and have a strong commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They should possess excellent organizational and time-management skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment. They should be able to work collaboratively with the construction team to ensure project success.
