With Germany being the core of European automotive manufacturing, its only natural it should also be a pioneer in scaling up battery cell manufacturing. At Northvolt we are excited to make this happen, and we have recently announced that Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, will be the location of our German Battery Gigafactory. The factory will be built in multiple phases over 5+ years and the factory represent a multi-billion Euro investment project. To enable this project we are now looking for a dedicated and driven Director of Project Controls to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future.

About the job
As the Director of Project Controls you will be responsible for ensuring the consistency at Program level of the execution plan (including business case and time schedule), and monitoring that the actual execution follows the plan, through regular and effective project control (cost, time, progress, documentation, risk, internal interfaces).

You will initially be involved in the design phase and later follow the project into full operation. In order to succeed you will work in close cooperation with other experts in the German team and consultants as well as the Green Energy team.

The role is a part of our Project Leadership team based in Germany. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing/ramping up processes and ways of working, and you'll contribute to building the largest battery factory in Europe.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement project schedules and timelines to ensure timely completion of the project.
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure that the project stays within budget.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that the project meets all required quality standards.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks that may impact the project, including safety risks and financial risks.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, including senior management, project managers, and clients.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have:

  • A Masters Degree, MBA, or similar in a Relevant field
  • 10+ years working experience in Roles such as project control manager /project manager
  • Excellent English written and oral skills
  • Track record of successfully leading large scale programs to on time, on budget delivery
