THE OPPORTUNITY IN A NUTSHELL
You? Mastering both internal and external multi-channel communications. Ability to be the one and only comms expert for our marketplaces Tori and Oikotie in Finland. Proactiveness and eagerness to create the next big story to tell.
Role? Head of Communications for our Jobs vertical to wear a double hat: setting and executing the overall comms strategy for the Jobs vertical along with implementing both internally and externally our Nordic Marketplaces’ communications strategy in Finland.
Location? Helsinki. We work in a hybrid way and would be happy to see you at our office a few times a week. We’re just steps away from the Helsinki railway station and Tuesdays you find most of us here thanks to our afternoon buns tradition! You can also expect travelling within the Nordics bi-monthly.
Company? Schibsted gathering together Bilbasen, Blocket, DBA, FINN, Oikotie & Tori hosting 325 million monthly visits in the Nordics targeting to make sustainable alternatives the obvious choice for everyone. Our Jobs vertical is represented in Finland with Oikotie Työpaikat, but also in Norway with FINN jobb and in Sweden with Blocket jobb.
Why us? Have you been waiting for a possibility to take over communications for a company with a wide societal impact? Here it is! On top of working towards increasing the inclusiveness of the job market in the Nordics, we welcome you to our startup style, people-centric community with no space for unnecessary bureaucracy and where you’re encouraged to try out, fail (or succeed!) and grow.
Sounds like your cup of tea? Check out the details below!
WHO ARE YOU?
You’ve already got miles behind in communications roles and we believe that your background goes back in the tech / startup world so that you know what it takes to switch from hands-on content producing to strategy mapping together with the leadership team. We’re happy to be surprised though!
A pen (or more accurately a keyboard) is your sixth finger and you master an engaged Slack post typing, PR release drafting, presentation making and feel confident in commenting on a job market topic online or on TV.
You know how to network your way through a cross-country organisation and are able to set the tone to match with colleagues from e.g. tech and leadership team and tackle journalists challenging questions.
Fluency in Finnish & English. External communications are mainly in Finnish and internal in English, which is also our company language. We gather people together from multiple backgrounds (memes in Spanish, Indian cooking recipes, database parodies, and dog videos circulate on our Slack channels!).
As a person, you’re a curious self-starter who shares our passion to constantly develop ourselves. Here’s a bunch of positive thinkers waiting for you to share the journey!
WHAT’S THE JOB LIKE?
Day-to-day work & projects cooking
As our brand new Head of Communications - Jobs, we dare to say that there’s no day alike (cliché we know!). We work in a matrix, meaning that you wear a double hat: taking care of our Jobs vertical communications strategy across the Nordics while acting as one of our communications spokesperson in Finland for our four business verticals (Jobs, Mobility, Real-Estate and Recommerce). You have a seat in the Communication & Engagement leadership team and collaborate mainly with Marketing, Sales, Strategy, People and leadership teams along with PR and media agencies. Let’s dive into your key missions:
JOBS - Our core purpose is to create equal job opportunities for everyone. To contribute to it, you support our Jobs leadership team and your partners in crime are the SVP Jobs, Eddie, along with Marketing Director, Mattias, Strategy Director, Noora, and People Director, Karin. Together, you set the agenda for the message we want to share internally and externally in multi-channels. You also play a key role in planning all hands meetings, organising, coordinating and producing content (digital, video, audio & print) for relevant conferences, seminars and events while driving internal, strategically important projects.
FINLAND - Get ready to act as our communications chameleon your role being unique in Finland! You form the bridge between our four business verticals making their voices heard both internally and externally in Finland with the help of other vertical Head of Comms and Marketing Directors.
Not everything is cotton candy clouds, so here’s the main opportunity to improve
You are jumping into a moving train as we are transforming into a next generation marketplace. In January 2023, we brought our strengths together from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland and started working in cross-country teams. There’re still multiple moving parts and the changing environment comes with unsolved questions and needs to build new habits and processes. Thus we need you to join us with cooking recipes and help us to plan the dinner and set the table as we go. On the other hand, it brings along a great opportunity to leave your fingerprint on how the new setup is drafted! Sounds like a challenge tailored for you? We can’t wait to hear from you!
Goals During your first months, we expect you to settle in our team & the community and start taking over your role. With our help (ofc!), we see you establishing your position as the external spokesperson for Schibsted in Finland while expanding your internal network. Further down the road, you contribute to planning and running our communications strategy for Finland and our Jobs vertical. We can’t wait to see you celebrating your first work anniversary with wins you’ve made together with us and discovering further the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has in store for us.
