Head of Membership & Community

As Head of Membership & Community, your key responsibilities will be membership acquisition, renewals, and community engagement

  • You will grow, nurture, and retain the most exciting and diverse community of change-makers.
  • You will take responsibility for hitting the targets set by the board for acquiring new members and retaining existing members.
  • You will ensure a world-class experience for all members from their first point of contact with us through to renewal.
  • You will manage the membership and community team to exceptional performance and ensure continuous innovation and challenger thinking.

Management of membership operations

  • You will lead the end-to-end, day-to-day delivery of membership and community building, creating maximum return on resources available.
  • You will be responsible for P&L management and data reporting.
  • You will ensure that all systems and processes relevant to the management of membership are fit for purpose, with continuous review and improvement.
  • You will lead on the devising and delivery of the in person and digital and outreach strategies necessary to attract high calibre members.
  • You will ensure that members are regularly and effectively communicated with, and feedback listened to and acted upon.

Specifically, you will:

  • Design and implement a yearly membership and community-building strategy including inputting data and insights for the budgeting of member growth and member retention in line with the company strategy
  • Achieve budgeted yearly membership acquisition and retention forecasts in line with membership category demographics
    • Analyse membership engagement to ensure data-driven sales and retention strategies for different segments
    • Oversee membership nomination and selection process
    • Work closely with the Marketing Team to showcase members, and attract new members
    • Work with the Director to design and deliver effective corporate outreach strategies with a solid pipeline of corporate targets
  • Oversee and support the execution of community engagement activities, which increase the engagement and connectivity of the community including hosting
    • Evening drinks events
    • Ad hoc member meetings
    • Member committees
    • Orientations and inductions
  • Manage Impact Champion and Conduit Fellowship Strategies, in close collaboration with the Programming team
  • Lead inclusion and diversity implementation for the Membership and Community Team
  • Design processes to capture, share and track the impact of The Conduit community
  • Take proactive and effective action regarding member misbehavior and adherence to the cultural code
  • Manage the Team and ensure coordination and collaboration with other in-house teams

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a relevant management role where you have been responsible for building and sustaining an active and engaged membership community. Hospitality sector experience is a plus, but not essential.
  • Strong communicator and media savvy with the ability to tailor communications to suit different audiences, while presenting with transparency and charisma.
  • You will have had full P&L accountability, understanding every level of detail in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, cashflow and growth plans.
  • Sharp commercial acumen, spotting opportunities and making connections with measurable results
  • Successful track record in managing high performing and engaged teams
