Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Purchasing Category Manager to join our passionate team in Stockholm or Västerås.

Sustainability is our mission: we are establishing a robust ecosystem for battery recycling in order to close the loop for Lithium-ion batteries- this is Revolt.

We plan to significantly grow in the next few years while we establish a complete ecosystem for battery recycling in Europe and this will require a strong focus on procurement of equipment, materials and services.

Today we have a recycling pilot plant in Västerås to demonstrate our process solution, we are starting a recycling hub in Norway and building a full-scale recycling plant in Skellefteå to secure a goal of 50% recycled material in new cells Northvolt will produce by 2030.

In this role you will be part of defining a solid long-term sourcing strategy for key equipment, contracted services and other strategic procurement categories in the recycling process, building a close cooperation with suppliers and ensuring a strong supplier base to sustain Revolt growth in Europe.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will map the market and scout new potential suppliers for key technologies in our recycling process, defining supply strategies for the long-term expansion of Revolt. Big focus area will be the Hydrometallurgy process of the recycling.

  • You will work closely with the Engineering team to identify the best partners for future development of recycling technologies and with the project teams to drive sourcing decisions to assure best cost and shorten delivery lead-times in line with the project targets.

  • You will be responsible for contracts from RFQ to contract setup till final delivery of the contract execution, in close cooperation with the project teams.

  • Updating our contract database and ERP systems as necessary, including issuing and revising POs, supporting spend analysis and managing vendor disputes.

  • You will manage the supplier base for the category, be a key point of contact towards strategic vendors, managing the long-term relationship and the performance of our supply chain.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A degree in Engineering or a MSc/MBA with a strong interest and career path in project environments with technical content
  • Working experience of at least 4 years, ideally in Hydrometallurgy, Chemical plant, Recycling or similar
  • Further education/certifications in Project Management, Procurement and Contract Management desirable (or willing to pursue)
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement (or sales) /contract management

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Able to understand the big picture and how his/her role is key to achieve the overall organizational and department goals
  • Highly organized and result-driven, able to challenge the status quo, brings good ideas and lead them into practice
  • Has a structured and methodical approach to work, but always strive for new solutions and can think "out of the box”
  • Excellent English written and oral skills, other languages are a plus
