As General Manager, you will work closely with the CEO of The Conduit in Oslo and the Global Director of Clubs to oversee all aspects of the operation in line with the agreed annual budget and targets. You will develop a close working relationship with all of the different departments within The Conduit in Oslo to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of every operational department, including ensuring that correct systems and metrics are in place to measure impact and performance; as well as supporting and mentoring the relevant leaders and senior managers of each operational outlet.

Responsibilities & Key Duties

Financials

  • Maximize sales across all F&B and event outlets while delivering excellent service, through strategizing across multiple outlets and departments
  • Analyse sales and product mix data to identify opportunities for growth and liaise with the finance department to ensure the accuracy of such data
  • Ensure financial reconciliation across the outlets is consistently carried out as instructed by the finance department and any error is actioned and rectified promptly
  • Control and flex labour costs across all outlets in accordance with both target and changes in revenue
  • Track labour accurately and consistently via the people managing system
  • Control cost of sales across all outlets through continuous menu analysis, engineering and implementation, accurate stock ordering, counting and reporting, and delivery of SOP
  • Control other overheads across all F&B outlets, ensuring stock is accurately tracked, par level maintained, products and equipment ordered promptly, and budgets are adhered to.
  • Seek new opportunities to improve both revenue and profitability of the outlets through innovation and revision of operational procedures
  • Liaise with beverage supplier(s), ensuring agreements in place are adhered to and new commercial agreements are negotiated to achieve the optimal balance of profitability and product choice. All agreements are to be presented to Global Director of Clubs for final approval.
  • Responsible for inventory management and ongoing maintenance of venue operating equipment and other assets in the F&B outlets

People

  • Attract and recruit team members that are culturally aligned with the Conduit-Ubuntu ethos and have positive, solution-focused attitudes and the ability to grow and develop within the organisation
  • Ensure the recruitment process is proactive and lead the creation of a pool of talent (bench) to ensure the operation is always protected and succession planning is set in parallel with people developing within the operation
  • Lead the implementation (in liaison with Community and Talent department) of training procedures across all outlets to ensure both knowledge and skills are kept to a consistently high standard
  • Lead the implementation of a G&O and performance management system within the outlets which both rewards excellence and addresses underperformance
  • Ensure engagement and energy within the team are maintained high through the creation of a supportive, professional yet fun culture within the workplace
  • Ensure the people managing system is understood by all and maintained up to date according to HR ad finance guidelines

Experience

  • Ensure the teams across the operation promote a helpful and professional image to the members
  • Create and support an environment where attentive and professional yet fun and relaxed service is delivered to all consumers
  • Take an active role within the senior operational team, helping to strategise and shape the overall offer according to vision/ethos, revenue opportunities, and consumer feedback
  • Ensure all feedback scores are consistently above target.
  • Ensure appropriate systems are in place to gather, record and report feedback to the appropriate team (Operational or Memberships) in a timely manner.
  • Use every occasion in which a consumer is dissatisfied, be it in person or following subsequent feedback, as an opportunity to establish rapport and create special experiences that will make the last impression a positive one.

Process and Compliance

  • Ensure the operation is compliant with all relevant standards and metrics including but not limited to: environmental authorities audits, Food Safety and Health and Safety external and internal audits, and insurance audits.
  • Ensure all legislative training is adhered to and carried out effectively and efficiently, and updated/retrained as required
  • Comply with all other statutory and company regulations such as crisis, fire, bomb, and security regulations

  • Wine & Food knowledge. Relevant qualifications are an advantage.
