Northvolt Systems (part of Northvolt AB) is looking for a (mid) experienced software engineer to join us in developing Hardware in the Loop (HiL) test environments for new and existing products. Our rigs and test infrastructure are crucial in ensuring software, hardware, and system integration works safely while meeting the expected performance requirements. This is a unique opportunity in building foundational systems that will grow and scale together with the company in coming decades.

With multiple products being developed in parallel, it is important to have a test-driven development mindset throughout the product lifecycle - from initial concept, during design, verification/validation (V&V), and after commercialization. To realize this, our tools must maintain high reliability in the face of constant changes.

As software engineer within our team, you will leverage your prior experience to both develop functional tests and design innovative infrastructure to enable automated execution where it makes sense, and effective debug infrastructure where automation is not appropriate. You will work within a small agile team at our HQ in Stockholm.

We are a young company with ambitious plans, and are looking for problem solvers who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. If you are passionate about technology and innovation, and are ready to take on the challenge of building the future of energy, we want to hear from you!

Please apply with a cover letter and a CV (and/or your complete LinkedIn profile). This job ad does not have a last application date since we will be evaluating and recruiting on an on-going basis. Full time employment, fixed salary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain HiL test infrastructure.
  • Author safety and non-safety test protocols to verify functions, expose bugs and/or reliability issues.
  • Develop and improve automated and manual regression testing framework.
  • Develop debug infrastructure tooling and processes.
  • Continuously analyze and improve test coverage.
  • Real-time model development for fault emulation.
  • Physically debug device under test (DUT) and HiL modules.
  • Report bugs and issues together with root-cause analysis where applicable.
  • Interface with embedded, systems, and algorithm engineering teams for issue resolution.
  • Champion test-driven product development methodology throughout the organization.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
