Northvolt has an exciting job offer for an experienced Director of Construction Quality to join our passionate Construction team in Skellefteå.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
The Quality Manager will be in charge of ensuring quality requirements are met in the project and that efficient follow-up of the project quality plan is done in the programme. You will be in charge of setting up and executing the Quality Plan for the Northvolt Ett factory project in Skellefteå and will reporting to the Construction Project Director. You will be responsible for managing the daily Quality assurance responsibilities to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established standards and requirements, this includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in-house personnel and external personnel to produce and document a quality product.
You have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract, each subcontract and the plans and specifications as well as the local Regulation in order to assist the Construction Project Director in development of the on-site procedures.
The project quality function will be located in Skellefteå and work closely with the Site team (e.g.: Construction manager, Commissioning Manager, Project Engineer, etc.), contractors and consultants on site.
In general you have a long experience in Project Quality Management and have been driving large, innovative and challenging CapEx projects, preferably with experience from building up new factories.
Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working in a matrixed project organisation where fast execution is key.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Defining, communicating and managing the Project Quality activities through an approved and operating Project Quality Plan.
- Review and develop the Northvolt quality plan, and make sure contractors ITPs are aligned with Northvolt way of working.
- Own and develop the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and ensure fulfilment of all requirements.
- Manage and build a team of quality control inspectors and coordinating their work with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Chair and document weekly QA meetings with the quality team and lead the Project Quality Management Review based on effective data review and analyses.
- Determining and managing a project Quality audit plan to ensure that projects are operating in compliance with Customer and applicable statutory and regulatory quality management system requirements.
- Managing project non-conformance issues with suppliers, contractors and consultants to ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are taken to achieve a level of zero recurrence.
- Contribute actively to the projects risk assessment and management of quality mitigations.
- Ensure knowledge and awareness of Quality requirements within the Project Team, also performing Quality Training activities and follow-up of competence.
- Support the installation and commissioning teams with relevant quality procedures and activities.
- Participate in project close out activities by facilitating closure of all project quality actions.

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
- MSc degree in relevant engineering or quality management discipline.
- 20+ years working experience in Project Quality during the Construction and handover phase.
- Thorough understanding of quality principles, regulatory quality systems, internal business systems, and processes is essential.
- Substantial experience & qualifications of Large construction projects, including equipment installation, commissioning and completions
Specific Skills/Abilities
- Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
