Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Senior Electrical E ngineer – Discharge in the field of battery recycling to join our passionate team in Västerås.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery recycling facilities. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free and resource efficient society.
Northvolt is now looking for a Senior Engineer within electrical discharge for our recycling operations. The purpose of this process is to deep discharge battery packs and modules, as preparation for dismantling or crushing/sorting.
As Senior Engineer Electrical Discharge, you will have deep knowledge in process design, equipment handling, operations and, control design etc. You will play an important role in dealing with equipment vendors and collaborating with Northvolt’s factory design team to efficiently integrate the process into the factory. You have extensive experience in battery testing (pack, module) and have been driving innovative, and challenging improvement projects. You are a team player, curious and eager to learn.
Key tasks include but are not limited to:
- Develop deep discharge methodologies and equipment
- Define together with the team safety procedures and limits.
- Provide training and technical support to process operators.
- Implement and support standardized processes.
- Support delivery on BU's innovation objectives.

Skills & Requirements
Education and Experience:
- MSc degree in Electrical Engineering.
- In depth knowledge in Battery System Architecture and Discharge.
- Qualified to work in high-voltage environments.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience within battery testing or in a related field.
- Successful track record of leading process improvement projects in a production factory.
Specific Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent English written and verbal skills, Swedish is a plus.
- Exceptionally good problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on mentality.
- An eye for details.
- Proactive and goes beyond expectations.
- Has a "can do" attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently.
