Senior Dangerous Goods Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Hazardous Waste & Dangerous Goods Specialist to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate recycling team Revolt, and the role will be based at our Germany head office in Hamburg. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing and ramping up our recycling activities in Europe.

About the job
The long-term goal for our team is to develop and ramp a best-in-class recycling process to supply Northvolt's battery production with 50% recycled materials by 2030. To achieve this, an enormous amount of battery waste materials will need to be secured, stored and transported across Europe. Revolt has already started these activities and are now looking to further expand our expertise within hazardous waste handling and corresponding regulatory framework. The team already has expertise within this field for the Nordics, but is now looking to expand to Europe with a primary focus on Germany.

About the team
The Revolt team currently consists of about 100 people and is in a strong growth phase, as we are getting prepared for starting operations of our first industrial recycling plant Revolt Ett in Skellefteå in 2023. The team is currently spread across thrree sites; at the head quarter in Stockholm, at our industrial recycling plant in Skellefteå and at our R&D Pilot plant in Västerås. We are now expanding the Revolt team to our next giga-factory site based in Heide and our German head office in Hamburg.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Waste shipment regulations

  • Support on Waste Regulations and Waste Shipment Regulations
  • Advice on classification of waste
  • Notifications for domestic shipments (EN)
  • Notifications for transboundary shipments

Dangerous goods regulations

  • Support on regulations for all modes of transport
  • Advice on classification of goods
  • Ensure compliant packaging, labelling documentations etc.

Overview of Operations

  • Ensure routines and instrucitons in place and compliant
  • Ensure relevant personnel are certified for handling Dangerous Goods
  • Act main point of contact within Revolt for rules and regulations related to hazardous waste handling

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • A degree in BSc/MSc in Engineering or other relevant degree
  • 5+ years working experience with hazardous waste / dangerous goods in Germany
  • Native/fluent in German
  • Excellent English written and oral skills

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in recycling / manufacturing industry
  • Experience from battery industry, and specifically Li-ion batteries
  • Experience in Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Waste in other EU countries than Germany
  • Fluency in other European languages
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
