Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Mechanical buyer to join our passionate procurement team in Stockholm.

Upon joining us you will play an important part in supporting the category manager and development programs from the very start to build and maintain the partnerships and supply base for Northvolt Systems and contribute towards transformation to a carbon free society.

The mechanical buyer will be in charge of developing and managing categories strategies in collaboration with the category manager and will oversee the fulfillment strategies with the respective cross functional partners. The role will in deep collaboration with the engineering team work on developing the current supplier portfolio and will play a critical role in execute the strategy in the early phase of product design.

The overall mission is to execute on the commodity strategies and be the purchasing team representative in panels for the different sourcing activities, recommend the suppliers, the plans for new project and drive supplier optimization related to cost, quality and reliability.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • In tight collaboration with engineering and other internal functions, excecute and give input to the cateogory manager on a supply base that fits Northvolt’s needs
  • Run RFx processes and negotiate best possible contractual conditions with suppliers to help achieve competitiveness of Northvolt products, including localization in Europe
  • Seeks and implements purchasing synergies, drives the cost down initiatives and negotiations with the suppliers
  • Works tightly with business, design and process Engineering counterparts and internal Clients

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • an Engineering degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering

  • at least 2 years experience working with sourcing of direct materials in an industrial setting.

  • Excellent English written and oral skills

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently

  • Qualities that we cherish are flexibility, sense of quality, friendliness, motivation to take on new challenges, grit and a sense of humor

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in any of below area: sheet metal manufacturing, heavy tooling manufacturing
