We are looking for an experienced Piping & Mechanical Designer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Factory Layout & Modelling team based in Stockholm.
By joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories, as well as the development of many more to follow. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
About the job
As Piping & Mechanical Designer, you will be a key player in our factory design processes. You will hands-on generate and coordinate designs within your discipline with focus on the concept and basic engineering phases. You will work closely with internal technical experts to develop excellent solutions to complex problems and help shaping the way we practically delivers best-in-class factories!
About the team
The Factory Layout & Modelling team is part of the Factory Design & Blueprint Department. We are a crew of about 8 people in the middle of a significant growth, diving even deeper into construction design and practices. The team is responsible for all CAD, BIM and layout engineering associated topics with focus on concept and basic project phases. As Piping & Mechanical Designer, you will help taking our design development within your discipline to the next level!
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing holistically optimized factory & system designs as an integral part of Northvolt Blueprint Engineering, focused on concept and basic engineering phases.
- Generate and deliver piping, HVAC and mechanical drawings, models and associated metadata in close coordination with discipline experts and technical stakeholders.
- Help develop internal toolboxes, libraries and ways of working within the discipline, pushing the frontier of modern factory design practices.
We are looking for someone with solid experience from construction design and modelling, preferably with industrial projects in the portfolio and with a genuine interest for CAD and BIM. This role will place you in the middle of a cross-functional and fast-paced environment; supporting the design team with know-how, visualizations and creative solutions to a complex building puzzle.

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have :
- Degree in Mechanical/Building Design or similar.
- 4+ years of experience in piping and mechanical design and/or drafting, preferably from industrial oriented projects
- Solid practical experience in factory design tools (such as Revit/MagiCAD, Plant3D and AutoCAD) and procedures.
- Great English written and oral skills.
