Do you want to be part of a team solving one of the biggest and most persistent challenges that healthcare is facing? We at Nordic Healthcare Group (NHG) help health and social care providers achieve a rapid breakthrough in the timeliness, quality, safety, and affordability of care simultaneously, while also reducing the burden on staff. We do this through a novel approach, called Pride and Joy, which consistently has demonstrated significant results around the world.

The key to the breakthrough is a patient-centered and clinically led approach, which allows for improving flow across all patient pathways simultaneously. We do this through meaningful change, which is enabled through an innovative piece of software. The software helps synchronize the work of all resources across the system in real-time, and to identify, resolve and focus improvement effort the few places, which will have the greatest impact on the system as whole.

We are now looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our team, to help take the Pride and Joy approach and software to the next level. Our ambition is to change the world for the better, by spreading this approach across the world.

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality software that does the right thing well. You will work closely with the Lead Software Engineer, allowing them to delegate design and implementation responsibilities while ensuring a high software development standard throughout the lifecycle. In addition, regular review and mentorship will be provided to ensure that you can continue to learn and grow.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • experience building and maintaining non-trivial software
  • a solid understanding of Agile development principles,
  • experience in Java, Clojure, ClojureScript, HTML, CSS, and JS (also familiarity with Rust is a bonus, but on-the-job training will be provided to the right candidate),
  • excellent command of English, skills in a Nordic language is considered a plus and
  • a willingness to continually improve software development capabilities within the company.

We are looking for a self-motivated expert willing to grow and help others through dialogue, review, and positive contributions. You will navigate complex systems and solve difficult problems.

You should be comfortable working remotely and be based in either Finland or the UK. Our main office is located in Helsinki. If you are based in the UK, you will mostly be working remotely. Our Lead Software Engineer is located in Leicestershire and visiting this area regularly is expected. Occasional travel between between Finland and the UK will be required.

We offer an inspiring and fun work community, a strong team spirit, and the opportunity to influence the construction of social and health services through our people-oriented organization.

We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about building meaningful software, continuously learning, and developing better health and social services. Please apply for the position by sending your CV/LinkedIn profile and application letter as soon as possible, but no later than 5.4.2023. About the company

In 2004, a group of researchers at the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) yearned to make the world a better place. The heart of their idea was to gain an in-depth understanding of the operations, structure and incentives of the health and social services sector and to apply this to practical improvements while honouring the tradition of the technical sciences. This was soon combined with solid expertise in analytics and an international demonstration of academic skills in the management and governance of health and social services. Nordic Healthcare Group, better known as NHG, was born!

Year by year, NHG has grown and evolved into a valued partner that works together with its clients to develop new, better and more user-oriented solutions for the health and social services sector. We at NHG offer a full range of services from advisory and management consulting services to digital transformation and solutions. Our growth is based on incredible people, inspiring individuals who share our values and goals. Today our approximately 200 professionals are located in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and the UK.
