Automation Engineer for automated material flow - Revolt

Northvolt’s mission is to build the world’s greenest battery with a minimal carbon footprint to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt Revolt is right now looking for an automation engineer to lead advanced automated material flow. (e.g. AGVs, Transfer Stations, Automatic Storage Systems or Buffers, Robots)

In this role you are crucial in automating the flow of material in our factories and make sure we are securing safe and efficient transport of material.

You will work closely with our existing R&D pilot to industrialise and develop technologies that can be scaled up and deployed in our larger factories.

In our pilot we have the capability to run the full recycling of batteries and we want to leverage this opportunity to facilitate innovation ideas.

The research and development in the pilot plant is a vital part of making the world’s greenest battery and it is important that you take an active role in fitting this part into the big picture for battery recycling. For example, we are building one of the first European large-scale lithium-ion battery recycling plant and our results from the pilot has a direct impact into this.

The daily work within this role includes exploring, developing and industrialising new technology and confirming the performance through experiments in the pilot plant.

In general you have a long experience in the field and have been part in driving innovative and challenging production development projects with high demands on industrialisation and scaling. You are an enthusiastic problem solver that can drive development through cross domain dialog. An important aspect of your capability is the skill to balance details with high level objective and deliver tangible results.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment

  • Be part of the team that will give our operations team the tools to run the most advanced and efficient material flow in the world.

  • Participate in R&D activities for piloting of new technologies and their suitability to production environments

  • Cost estimations for projects and change requests. Provide input for quoting and planning works

  • Benchmark external automated material handling technologies for recycling purpose

  • Identify and interact with key automation solution suppliers in a international setting.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • >5 years of technical experience in running complex research and development projects

  • Track-record of successful implementation of advanced technical projects/automation systems in a production environment.

  • Proven track record of accomplishing change initiatives with external partners

  • Capability to implement and industrialise results from the R&D into the pilot plant and our factories

  • Masters degree in engineering
