Northvolt is currently looking for a talented senior embedded software developer to join our growing team. You will be given the opportunity to develop High Performance battery control systems, and be part of building a series of European large-scale lithium-ion cell and battery systems factories.

The control system team is responsible for defining both the microprocessor architecture, as well as all software development on our industrial and ESS battery solutions. This includes control units for battery management and safety, and units for battery connectivity, data collection and data transmission.

We are searching for an experienced embedded software developer who has experience from working close to hardware platforms and has in-depth knowledge of embedded software development eg from the automotive or industrial industries. As a senior member of the team, you will also have areas of technical ownership, contribute towards architectural design, and be expected to guide and mentor more junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements for the specific functionality (based on customer requirements or internal requirements).
  • Do the software implementation and write unit test cases for your functionality.
  • Do the initial testing and debugging of your developed functions on different levels, eg in a SIL-environment, on small test rigs with the control unit, or on the complete battery system.
  • Produce required documentation.
  • Work close to the test team to assure the quality of functionality.
  • Beside development you must be able to leave the desk and perform practical tasks like prototype mock-up of the control systems, making harnesses for debugging or for small test rigs, helping our customers with integration of our system and making prototype battery systems work.

At Northvolt we all work tightly together with a low level of hierarchy, and we encourage different backgrounds and levels of experience. What we all have in common is that we are bold, passionate and in whatever area we are working in we do it with excellence. Do you have what it takes to be a part of our team?

To be a part of this unique opportunity apply with a cover letter (mandatory) and a CV (or your complete LinkedIn profile). Please add to your application how you can contribute with your background to Northvolt and enable the future of energy.

This job ad does not have a last application date since we will be evaluating and recruiting continuously.

Full time employment, fixed salary. The Battery Systems part of Northvolt is located in Stockholm.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
