Job Description

Role Description

A young professional and excellent communicator with strong writing and exceptional organisational skills ready to perform a variety of administrative tasks and support the MEST Portfolio Team. You should also be a strong and passionate individual who is excited about the chance to experience what it’s like to work in a fast-paced high-energy environment with some of Africa’s leading tech Entrepreneurs.

To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized, have great time management skills and be able to act without guidance on a variety of tasks related to the MEST Portfolio’s information flow and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage information flow within the Portfolio Unit in a timely and accurate manner

  • Format, edit and review information and documents for internal and external communication – memos, emails, presentations, reports

  • Facilitate internal communication within the MEST Portfolio and MEST Community (e.g. distribute information and schedule presentations and events)

  • Set up meetings and events for the MEST Portfolio

  • Maintain diary, arrange meetings and appointments and provide reminders

  • Input data in key files

  • Record meeting minutes and circulate

  • Make travel and accommodation arrangements (where necessary)

  • Prepare periodic reports for the MEST Portfolio

  • Providing support to partnerships including building capacity either within MEST or with partner networks

  • Ensure appropriate administration of finances and governance for MEST portfolio companies and for MEST as an investor

  • Support the Director of Portfolio in all relevant activities

Skills & Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with additional qualification as an Administrative Assistant would be considered an advantage
  • Proven work experience as an Executive Assistant, Executive Administrative Assistant or similar role
  • Strong communication skills (via phone, email and in-person) and cross-cultural communication experience with emerging and developed markets
  • High-level of English language skills; written and verbal
  • Experience exercising discretion and confidentiality with sensitive company information
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to think proactively and prioritize work
  • Familiarity with cloud systems and popular products in the G-suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides & Calendar)

Founded in Ghana in 2008 by serial entrepreneur Jorn Lyseggen, MEST is a 12 month program that provides critical skills training in software development, business, and communications to Africa’s burgeoning tech talent.
