There is no security without “u” and therefore we are welcoming you to join our Threat Protection Engineering team to sharpen your skills in creating effective threat detection rules for our products. Our team provides effective and seamless threat protection through threat research outcomes, ensuring our products and the internet is a safe place for our tens of millions of customers around the world. In our team every day is exciting and full of technical challenges that inspire us to learn and develop together as a team.

As our Junior Analyst you will participate in improving and maintaining reputation-based operations for web contents; both malicious and safe, behind our various endpoint for our various products. This includes classifying and categorizing content to lessen false positives and improve website content classification.

While not a core focus of this role, our team also handles vulnerability reports to operations items such as reverse engineering, locating, classifying, analyzing, and detecting threats. We also work on project-based items such as building new protection capabilities for new product lines and performing detection ramp-ups or false positive ramp-downs for various products. These are potential areas for your career growth, all within the same team.

You will join a team of 13 threat protection professionals with some working in Kuala Lumpur. This role is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but you can choose to work in a hybrid mode as well (provided you are already residing within Malaysia).

Key Responsibilities

• Working with rule-based systems that help automatically classify web contents and URLs.
• Manually verifying the correctness of web content classification from various systems.
• Working with development teams to improve the web content classification systems.
• Using your scripting skills (mainly Python) to automate repetitive tasks or improving current automation scripts for classifying web content.
• Creating documentation for processes that you or the team may create.

What are we looking for?

• Coding skills (esp. Python, Java, Yara).
• Diploma/Degree in IT/Computer Science or similar, or with programming background.
• Willingness to learn rule-based systems.
• Capability to work with repetitive tasks and still deliver high quality output.
• Interest in performing product testing.
• Ability to stomach disturbing content from the internet.
• Proactiveness in continuously improving quality and efficiency of work output.
• English language skills as our organization language is English.

Bonus points

• Familiarity of the various network-based threats
• Familiarity with network/web traffic analysis/web debugging
• Threat hunting and identification
