Factory Material Flow Engineer
Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Factory Material Flow Engineer in Northvolt Systems Poland. This position is in Gdansk, Poland, which reporting directly to the Manager of Material Flow and Storage under Factory Development team in Stockholm.
The Factory Development team is responsible for developing factory designs which supports seamless integration between production, packaging, material flow, supply chain, construction, facilities teams and IT. Through a detailed understanding of factory objectives and extensive collaboration with the internal and external teams designing the factory setup, this team ensures that the overall factory design achieves Northvolt's demanding production targets. Today the team consist of 13 people, and we are looking for our next star.
As part of Factory Development team, the Factory Material Flow Engineer will develop the flow inside of the factories ground (inside and outside). Therefore, the role needs to work closely with interface partners from layout, process material flow, warehousing, logistics, quality, rework, construction, and offices. This function has the governance of all flows beside the process material flow. Therefore, the responsibility is to design, optimize and balance the flows of finished goods, parts, and people with the target to eliminate congestions, stoppages of production lines and MUDA. Collaboration with highly technical cross-functional teams is needed to ensure the factory throughput, efficient support functions and that the factory utilizes the available space most efficient.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, optimize and balance the flow solutions of finished goods, parts and people on the factory grounds by utilizing new technologies and specialized equipment.
- In new factory projects the role has the governance to ensure all flows affecting arrangement of buildings, equipment, operations, and support functions.
- Planning, ordering (RFQ runs), and handing over of all necessary equipment to ensure the factory material flow (eg. AMR/AGV, tugger trains, forklifts, supermarkets, support areas, etc.)
- Optimize manufacturing layouts incorporating people and material flow.
- Defining measures to solve bottlenecks with the technical cross-functional team and drive the process to ensure implementation of measures.
- Support production ramp-up in Northvolt Systems factories (in and outside Europe) and handover to operations and sustaining industrial/process engineers.
Main deliverables:
- In-plant logistics readiness to support production ramp up.
- In-plant material flow design
- In-plant material handling equipment and resource plan, ordering and acceptance.
- Document and equipment handover to local operation team.
- Support and coordinate material flow relevant project.

Skills & Requirements
Skills & Requirements:
Experience:
- +4 years of experience in manufacturing development, equipment engineering, material flow. Experience specifically regarding in-plant material flow optimization, material handling equipment engineering.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S plus safety, Kaizen
- Experience doing the detailed analysis necessary to make data driven decisions on factory layout design, production line/assembly line design or warehouse design.
- Line ramp up and digital factory experience are valuable merits.
- Experience in leading logistics operation is also appreciated merit.
Education and Knowledge:
- M.Sc. in Engineering, preferably within Production Management/Logistics/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or bachelor’s degree plus relevant experience.
- Solid knowledge on lean production, material flow design.
- Common sense on production, time management, supply chain management and project management.
Personality
- Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated. Be the energy source of the team to achieve target.
- Enjoy working under challenges, solving problem within a multi-cultural team.
Skills:
- Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
- Mastery at least one of the flow chart tools, e.g. Visio, Lucid, Microsoft planner.
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D or 3D
- Experience with Siemens Plant Simulation or similar, AGV/AMR automation control are big merits.
