Are you interested in physical phenomena, quality and solving problems? Do you want to find the root causes for issues and see how high-end sensor elements are developed? Join Murata’s failure analysis team for the summer!

We are looking for engineer trainee to join our quality organization to analyze our products for summer 2023 on our premises in Martinlaakso, Vantaa. The task of our failure analysis team is to analyze failure modes of our products. We are responsible for the analysis of customer returns as well as deviations of R&D and production line materials. As a summer trainee your main job will be electrical measurements of MEMS sensor elements, physical analysis and reporting. Typical day may include for example use of test equipment, sample preparation, physical analysis by optical, infrared or electron microscopy as well as reporting of results according to existing work instructions. You’ll become a part of our 13-member team and work in close cooperation with production and product development.

In this role you will learn about microelectromechanical sensor technologies and see their development processes. You get to utilize your understanding of electronics, material science and analysis methods. The trainee position gives a great opportunity to develop your own expertise and work in a large global company with modern technologies and methods with seasoned professionals. Our products are used in automotive applications as well as pacemakers, bringing more interesting touch and challenges to the work.

In order to be successful in this position you have:

  • 3+ years of studies in higher education in relevant field
    • For example, M.Sc. Studies related to electronics or material science
  • Understanding of analysis techniques (e.g., optical microscopy, electron microscopy and electrical measurements)
  • Fluent English skills, written and spoken
  • Will and passion to learn new things

We also appreciate interest on physical phenomena, analytical problem-solving skills as well as practical experience on analysis tools/techniques (e.g., microscopy & SEM/EDX). Understanding of MEMS, reliability and failure analysis will be helpful in the role. You will fit to our team well when you have practical approach with detailed and thorough working style.
