The role of Lead Test Electrical Engineer within ESS Engineering Team, is to take responsibility for identifying and defining the product, process, equipment and process validation related activities within the technology roadmaps that lead to new or improved test technologies, both electrical testing and vision inspection, supporting the battery systems product portfolio and the next generation shift in manufacturing technologies

Skills & Requirements

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Link between Production Test and R&D Engineering for new product developments, design changes and product diagnostics (development products)

  • Develop test code base and custom applications in house to perform custom electrical functional checks and vision inspection systems

  • Creating electrical test procedures, implementing test fixtures and executing qualification and validation activities for battery systems electrical testing

  • Characterize and create vision inspection procedures, implement inspection systems

  • Characterize existing processes by defining critical process parameters, establish required process controls and process validation plans to fulfill targeted Machine and Process Capabilities (cm, cmk, cp, cpk, pp, ppk), First Pass Yield (FPY), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Scrap level.

  • Responsible for diagnosing root causes and implementing preventive and corrective actions for equipment, process and product failures

  • Training of test and maintenance technicians

  • Lead and participate in electrical and vision test equipment and process design reviews with equipment suppliers to integrate state of the art battery systems electrical tests and vision inspection technologies into our manufacturing processes.

We believe that you have:

  • Fluent English with strong communication skills
  • BSc or MSc degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Work experience with battery systems testing or electronics testing and vision inspection systems in manufacturing area.
  • High voltage testing
  • Prior strong software experience in NI Labview and/or NI TestStand and/or Matlab
  • Knowledge of Phyton/C/C++/C# programing languages
  • Prior strong experience with CAN, Ethernet, RS 232 Communication Protocols
  • Experience using and programing profilometers, optical micrometers, 2D/3D AOI Systems, laser triangulation
  • Experience in providing solutions to one or more of geometric dimensional measurements, presence detection, position detection and correction, surface defect inspection
  • Good fundamentals understanding of optics: lenses, filters, lighting, polarization, diffraction etc.
  • Experience using vision systems from Keyence, Cognex, DALSA, Stemmer Imaging etc.
  • Good analytical reasoning, problem solving skills and ability to understand complex HW/SW systems
  • Quality and customer orientation
  • Experience with product and processes from prototype through production in a high volume and high pace environment ideally in the Battery, Electronics, Semiconductor production, Automotive industries.

Bonus points for:

  • Additional experience on automotive systems, scripting languages, Keysight BTI and/or Teradyne Test Station

  • Additional experience with programing and evaluating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs): portable systems, contactless or traditional

  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment

  • Experience in microcontrollers – general overview
