Job Description

What You'll Do

The Portfolio Venture Partner of Information and Technology will work closely with the MEST portfolio team to facilitate the individual and collective success of MEST companies. This will involve driving growth and sustainability for portfolio companies by recommending systematic technological improvements while providing strategic support to ensure operational efficiency. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who is resourceful, well organized, and self motivated with a deep knowledge of technology and entrepreneurship. This role will be located on the MEST Campus in Ghana. Sponsorship and relocation will be provided.

  • Provide strategy, leadership and direction to companies within the MEST Portfolio
  • Utilize personal skills and knowledge to support portfolio companies in building scalable software companies
  • Analyze the existing software, and network capabilities of portfolio companies and provide guidance
  • Work with company leadership to set clear goals and targets
  • Provide general technology advisory and additional services to portfolio companies and partners across multiple industries and countries
  • Responsible for guiding portfolio company founders in assessing, designing, and defining a strategic business architecture and technology growth plan
  • Conduct research to identify market trends and opportunities for new products or services
  • Provide support to partnerships including capacity building, within MEST and partner networks
  • Support the Director of Portfolio in all key initiatives
Skills & Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience working in consulting, product design, UX, lead programer or similar field
  • Bachelors/ Masters degree in management, finance, business development, computer science, engineering or similar field
  • Entrepreneurial background, previous founder experience a bonus
  • Fundraising experience, having founded or worked directly with startups
  • Well organized
  • Deep understanding of the startup journey
  • Global experience with local expertise in markets where we operate
  • Friendly and open personality
  • Team player

The MEST Training school invests in talented and determined entrepreneurs to develop critical skills in software development, business, and communication. The MEST fund further invests in business ideas developed at the training school to support founders in developing and scaling their business.
