Job Description

What You'll Do

The Portfolio Venture Partner of Marketing and Sales will work closely with the MEST Director of Portfolio to facilitate individual and collective success of MEST portfolio companies. This will include driving growth and sustainability for portfolio companies through ecosystem engagement, market research and stakeholder management. You will coach portfolio companies on how to attract new customers while developing effective customer retention models. Additional responsibilities will include coordinating key ecosystem engagements and identifying new opportunities and improving the long term sustainability for our companies. This role will be located on the MEST Campus in Ghana. Sponsorship and relocation will be provided.

  • Provide strategy, leadership and direction to companies within the MEST Portfolio
  • Utilize personal skills and knowledge in sales and product development to mentor and advise targeted portfolio companies and ensure the overall portfolio is thriving and achieving its potential across all incubators
  • Work with company leadership to set clear goals and targets
  • Coach portfolio companies to find prospective customers and new target segments while developing clear customer retention strategies
  • Monitor sales numbers and marketing metrics for portfolio companies
  • Analyze market trends while monitoring the competitive landscape and current developments in technology, entrepreneurship and sales
  • Providing support to partnerships including building capacity either within MEST or with partner networks
  • Ensure appropriate administration of finances and governance for MEST portfolio companies and for MEST as an investor
  • Support the Director of Portfolio in all key initiatives
Skills & Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience working in management consulting, investment banking, venture capital or similar field
  • Bachelors/ Masters degree in management, finance, business development, computer science, engineering or similar field
  • Entrepreneurial background
  • Fundraising experience
  • Well organized
  • Deep understanding of the startup journey
  • Global experience with local expertise in markets where we operate
  • Friendly and open personality
  • Team player
