Northvolt is now looking for a Senior Process Engineering manager for hydrometallurgical battery recycling expansion plants. Hydromet process is Northvolt chemcial refinary process to treat end of life and production scrap batteries and separate out valuable metals to be reuse in battery production. The unit will primarily support the Raw material strategy and Revolt team to create a NMC sulphate product of battery grade from recycled battery products.

As Senior Process Engineering manager, you will have deep knowledge in process design, working with international engineering firms to run feasibility studies as well as value, basic and detail engineering practicies. You will be dealing with Engineering firms and technology companies and working close with Northvolt’s factory design, manufacturing and R&D team to efficiently improve our process design for expansion processes and integrate the process into the factory. You have experience in the field and have been driving large, innovative and challenging improvement projects in the areas of yield, cost, quality and efficiency. you will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story and see the results of your work. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead a process engineering team responsible for the design, and development and execusion of the Hydrometallurgy recycling process for expansion processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process design, costs savings, quality and resource utilization.
  • Optimization of performance of Hydrometallurgy process with respect to product quality, energy, cost and resources.
  • Establishing R&D projects together with the R&D team to develop new and improved processe
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to facilitate a fully integrated, optimized design that meets all functional requirements
  • Provide technical support to the construction, commissioning and operational teams

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building the first largest scale European battery recycling factories. You will be working intimately with the overall recycling technology team with development, design, execusion and product validation.

In general you have a long experience in the field and have been driving large, innovative and challenging hydrometallurgy projects with high demands on purity and yield. The person we are looking for is strongly goal oriented, curious and eager to learn, driven, caring and structured. You thrive by leading others and work towards common goals. About the team
Revolt Hydromet team is working with R&D, design and engineering of our hydrometallurgical recycling processes in an intergrated team. We have our first giga factory under the construction and started to team up to kick start engineering activitis for our expansion plant. We are an agile, dynamic and autonomous team of highly skilled engineers and speciallists seeking common goals!

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • BSc or MSc degree in Chemical Engineering/Process Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience within high volume production in a related field.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills
  • In depth knowledge in Hydromet process, including leaching, solvent extraction, IX, filtration and crystallization-precipitation processes.
  • Successful track record of leading process development and project establishment in early initiation phase including feasiblity basic and value engineering practicies in complex chemical processes.
  • Experience from scaling production in a fast-growing environment, ideally in the mineral processing, chemical manufacturing, Pharma, Paper & Pulp, Electrochemical or similar industry.
