Venture for Africa offers a 3-month immersion program designed to immerse top local and global talent in the African startup ecosystem.

We enable experienced talent who might be new to the startup space or the particular market they’re looking to enter, to soft-land and gain context while working with a startup or venture fund that's hiring.

  • Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.

  • Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, get plugged into the right networks, and get to understand market nuances.

  • Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startup while being paid a stipend.

  • Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for available full-time roles with the startup after the experience.


Startup Partner:Ndovu

Ndovu is a micro-investment platform that provides easy access to financial markets including Africa. Ndovu digitizes the investing process, providing access to global markets whilst providing advice all through your phone.

Engagement Description

Ndovu is seeking a product manager who will be responsible for:

  • Identifying the customer needs and the business objectives that a product or feature will fulfil

  • Articulating what success looks like for a product, and rallying a team to turn that vision into a reality.

Post the 3-month immersion experience, this engagement will evolve into a Director of Product role.

Some of the deliverables you'll be tasked with include to:

  • Champion the product internally and externally, optimise the product to meet business needs while also being the voice of the user.
  • Work with product stakeholders to collect, prioritise and specify business requirements from the CXOs, business development and sales team, as well as the market requirements from customers, company domain experts, company technology expert, etc.
  • Work closely with the development team and product stakeholders to convey a vision of what needs to be built, deliver the requirements, and clarify as needed.
  • Monitoring the market and developing competitive analyses.

Reports to: CEO

Skills & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, cross-functional project management in a software development company or strategy consulting.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional areas, in addition to Product Management, such as Engineering, UX/UI, Sales, Marketing, Business Development Managers, Developer Advocates, and Customer support.
  • Experience in taking both innovative and pragmatic approaches to delivering first-class product experience to users.
  • Understanding and having a passion to solve the unique needs of regional users and developers.
  • Solid track record of driving complex projects with many stakeholders to success
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical experience
  • Curious, structured thinker, strong communicator
  • Highly productive and motivated by solving hard problems
  • Not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuff done in a fast-moving, ever-changing startup environment.
