We are building a state-of-the-art Gigafactory that will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe and construction is set to begin in 2023. To make that happen we need the best to join our in-house Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) team!

Our mission is to build a ”First in Class” Gigafactory that transforms Volvo Cars into a full EV (Electrical Vehicle) manufacturer - using the most sustainable and innovative methods in construction, whilst achieving the highest level of trust with all service providers to perform the safest, fastest, cost-effective and excellent quality of craftsmanship project in the industry. We are now looking for several Construction Managers to join our team!

In this position you will drive construction process from very first pole positions and play a key role in our multidisciplinary Construction Organization in building the new Gigafactory. As Construction Manager you will have full ownership to lead construction package along the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for the overall package preparation, planning, contractors contract management, coordination and communication with multiple stakeholders. You will ensure that the execution develops according to overall program plan and budget while leading an inclusive end-to-end construction package delivery.

We are looking for Construction Managers, which will lead on following packages:

  • Civil/Infrastructure works
  • Structural/Core and shell works
  • Architectural/Fit’ out works
  • Mechanical & Piping
  • Electrical & Controls

What you will do in your role:

  • Act as the main Construction Manager for an area and specific discipline above.
  • Lead and enable your teams and counterparts to solve problems and prioritize execution by company needs.
  • Oversee and directing parts of the project from conception to completion.
  • Manage schedule deliverables and control budget along with cost forecast for the assigned package.
  • Provide related inputs and feedback to the stakeholders involved, developing, executing, and adjusting strategy for construction process in the end-to-end project lifecycle.
  • Communicate priorities and drive timely process change requests and change orders to fulfill project milestones.
  • Become a backbone of the EPCM team, supporting on developing the organization accordingly to Company mission and supporting hand in hand team members.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, legal requirements, regulations and governance.

Skills & Requirements

Your Background
We believe that you have strong understanding of Construction Processes to drive strategical construction decisions along the lifecycle of the project for the assigned package. You have exceptional professional experience within the discipline you will lead on, both on design, planning and execution stages. Furthermore, you have understanding of construction administration processes, including contracts, budgets, construction documents, change orders, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and procurement processes.

To be successful in this role, you have:

Essential

  • BSc or MSc degree in within relevant field: Construction management-, civil-, structural-, mechanical-, electrical- or architectural engineering,
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience within Construction industrial projects.
  • Knowledge in general conditions of contract for building, civil engineering works and building services like AB 04, ABT 06, ABK 09 or general understanding of contractforms and requirements.
  • Experience in large-scale construction projects with considerable multidisciplinary complexity, experience within general contractor or EPC organization environment is an added value.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Must have the ability to discuss technical topics with a variety of audiences – contractors, engineers, and members of various divisions within organization. Swedish is a plus.

Desirable

  • Experience from Greenfield Projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience from Swedish construction sites is preferred.
  • Highly organized and results-driven approach
  • Self-performing attitude with the strong skill to contribute on team effort
