Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Director of R&D PMO to build a Project Management Office at Northvolt Labs for our lithium-ion battery cell business. Northvolt Labs is a battery technology campus located in Västerås, Sweden. Equipped with all the capacities necessary for Northvolt to develop, produce, and validate materials and cells. In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

As a Director of R&D PMO, you will be responsible for building from scratch and leading our PMO function that works across all cell development programs to ensure that our project management framework is implemented and executed. You will report to Chief Development Officer.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build a world-class PMO function with technical project managers and close alignment with our cell development organizations

  • Define and further develop product development processes and milestone reviews

  • Ensure that the master timespan for each project is updated and tracked regularly, follow up with project leaders in all deviations

  • Ensure a clear, fact-based reporting to Northvolt management on the status, risk and deviations from the plan

  • Aggregate the timespan for the complete cell development program based on the plans for each individual project and identify any conflicts in milestones or resources

  • Ensure a regular and effective program risk management based on the risks from individual projects and organizational risks

  • Own and update the project management framework to include lessons learned and also consider rapid growth and changes of Northvolt organization

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A Relevant University Degree (B.Sc. / M.Sc. or similar)

  • 8+ years of experience in strategic project management as a (technical) project manager and/or PMO in demanding projects for automotive, electronics, and/or industrial product development

  • Good understanding of product development and industrialization processes

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Preferably having worked in multi-cultural environment
  • Fluency in English
