Rework Engineer

Due to rapid growth of our organization, we are looking for Rework Engineer who will take full ownership of a rework process for rejected products with a key focus on safety, quality, throughput, continuous improvement and standardization as well as maintenance of rework equipment.


  • Establishes world-class rework process, documentation & standards in plant environment with a strong focus on safety, quality and manufacturability
  • Develops and owns rework area in the plant, optimizing material flows, ergonomics, throughput of rework stations & working methods, using 5S methodology
  • Introduces tool management & cleanliness policies in rework area
  • Supports engineering team with installation, commissioning, start-up, FAT & SAT of rework equipment, actively participates in design review process
  • Develops & leads training program for rework technicians or operators & creates work instructions for all rework activities
  • Monitors key KPIs and continuously improves rework process driving productivity & cost reduction, not compromising safety or quality
  • Supports rework process development
  • Leads root cause analysis for identified failures, driving improvement & preventive actions to the process, methods or equipment, thoroughly documenting investigation results
  • Partners with quality, engineering, operations & maintenance teams
  • Closely cooperates with design team supporting and proposing design changes as well as drives equipment modifications & its validation
  • Maintains equipment & rework process documentation & standards
  • Leverage diagnostic and analytic data using ERP & MES tools to analyze & evaluate rework throughput & performance with the aim to improve key KPIs
  • Thrives zero loss mentality by end-to-end continuous improvement mindset, sharing feedback & effectively collaborating with all levels of employees & management

Skills & Requirements


  • At least Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical engineering or a similar profile, experience in equivalent industry is strongly preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience on a similar position in a production company (experience in a battery industry is a significant advantage)
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble, disassemble, retrofit, fix, use hand, power & diagnostic tools as well as electrical test equipment & semi-automated equipment
  • Must be fluent in English, written and oral
  • Polish command is an advantage
  • Experience in reading technical documentation, mechanical drawings & electrical diagrams
  • Practical knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & PowerBI
  • Ability to work in a team and to cooperate actively with quality, engineering, design, maintenance and production
  • Experience in the modern operations principles: Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma
  • An example driven management of the shop floor. Resolute 5S
  • Capacity to move from engineering mindset being extremely detail oriented to a leader considering end-to-end, broader business picture in the matter of seconds when necessary
  • A role model in safety, quality, team work and attitude
  • Improvement oriented with positive attitude enabling positive and constructive feedback
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills & working knowledge of statistical data analysis

Northvolt is a European supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems.
