Venture for Africa offers a 3-month immersion program designed to immerse top local and global talent in the African startup ecosystem.

We enable experienced talent who might be new to the startup space or the particular market they’re looking to enter, to soft-land and gain context while working with a startup or venture fund that's hiring.

Are you ready to #TaketheLeap?

  • Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.

  • Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, be connected to expert mentors, and get to understand market nuances.

  • Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startups while being paid a stipend.

  • Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for available full-time roles with the startup post the fellowship

Startup Partner:Tushop

Tushop is a community group buying platform. They aggregate orders from communities and connect manufacturers and farmers to directly supply those orders, bypassing the other links in the supply chain (distributors, wholesalers, and retailers).

The supplier gets to learn more about their customers, the end customer gets their food and goods at up to 30% off (and delivered for free), and the Community Leader gets rewarded for making the magic happen.

Tushop operates in Kenya (for now), but the goal is to do this across Africa.

Project Description

The company is looking for an experienced operation lead who will be responsible for building and managing the day-to-day operations of the entire company, both building the company’s operational foundations and scaling its footprint across Kenya and Africa.

This includes building out the team, processes and tools required to run operations efficiently, smoothly, and in a manner that doesn’t tie down progress or growth but instead unleashes it.

Tushop is an operationally heavy business that manages thousands of orders, payments, and stakeholders/customers at all times of the day. You will be responsible for understanding the operational flows of the business, de-bug and de-risk them, liaising with the tech team to automate what needs to be automated, and overseeing the Finance department of the firm.

  • Set up business processes, procedures and policies through in-depth evaluation, and execution of continuous improvements in standard practices and quality control
