Background
Hurtigruten is going through change - change at virtually all levels of the business. We have recently opened a second headquarters in London and are growing rapidly across all our teams including Sales & Marketing, Commercial, Operations and Expeditions.
Position
This role will report to The Head of Crewing and requires an experienced Crewing/Rotations Team Lead that will ensure the fleet is staffed to the correct complement with the right people, ensuring compliance against regulations whilst maintaining service and costs.
As a Crewing/Rotations Team Lead, this individual will collaborate with colleagues within the Crewing team, Fleet and Shore SMT, as well as our worldwide partners accordingly, to ensure all parameters are met.
As a team leader, you will be accessible demonstrating a high level of commitment to people, products, and processes, and always leading by example.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
You will be responsible for ensuring the workforce plan is maintained and therefore budget, with any changes following the approval process accordingly.
Support, develop, and maintain a shared customer service ethos for the rotations function.
Responsible for ensuring all rotation plans are developed in line with the Crew Repatriation Schedule.
Ensure that all rotation plans are in the main HR Crewing System 18 months ahead.
You will be responsible for ensuring only fully qualified and compliant crew members are planned to join.
Develop contingency plans to support planned and unplanned events that can impact manning onboard.
Responsible for ensuring any crew members who disembark for unplanned reasons are taken care of.
Collaborate with the logistics coordinator ensuring the requirements for new build/dry docks are delivered.
Responsible for mapping, coordinating, and implementing courses and training in collaboration with suppliers, ships, and operations on shore.
Work closely with all crewing agencies, talent acquisition, and onboarding teams to ensure the establishment is regularly maintained and sufficient to meet the demands of the business taking action to mitigate any risks as appropriate.
You will coordinate with crewing agencies and make sure all manning activities outsourced to crewing partners are timely and accurately performed.
Maintain up-to-date and working knowledge of immigration and other maritime rules and regulations to ensure relevant members of the team are fully briefed on the same where appropriate.
Ensure all team members make efficient use of the HR crewing system to ensure data is accurate and up to date, whilst also initiating regular housekeeping exercises.
Continuous review and development of the rotations experience ensuring consistency across the crewing function, identifying opportunities for service improvement and cost reduction.
Able to demonstrate an effective level of influence, impact, and voice for the level of role.
Challenges status quo making difficult decisions considering the impact and implications of the decision.
Support the People and Culture team in delivering the company's Employee Value Proposition.
Work alongside fleet stakeholders to build a trusted service.
Provide workforce plan/rotation-related reports/progress against KPIs to the business to ensure transparency of service.
Take part with the on-call out-of-hours emergency phone on a rotation basis to ensure the fleet is supported 24/7 365 days per year.
Support any projects as requested.
Manage the day-to-day performance of the team aligned to their area.
Provide support and guidance to all team members at all levels ensuring that regular one-to-ones/appraisals are conducted in line with company policy.
Drive high levels of team engagement.
Identify training needs and formulate development plans for direct reports.
Ensure succession planning and risk mitigation within the team.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Bachelors’ Degree in relevant related fields.
Experience in Manpower/Scheduling Planning.
At least 5 years of working experience in the maritime/cruise/expedition industries.
Experience working in a dynamic high-volume operation.
Experience in forecasting and managing budgets.
Experience in leading a high-performing team.
Desirable
Knowledge of Worldwide immigration.
Experience working with multinational offices.
Experience working with crewing system OCS
