Director of Engineering

  • Stockholm
  • Stockholm

Mentimeter’s vision is to transform presentations and meetings into fun and interactive experiences by making it easy to listen and to be heard. We believe in giving everyone a voice, in every meeting and presentation. We are building a modern, friendly, and diverse product-first tech company based in Stockholm and we want you to join us!

We’re currently looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Core Product Area. We want you to join us to help develop our Product organization and enable our engineering teams in making our core product even more appealing to our users and customers. As Director of Engineering you will be responsible for ensuring that Mentimeter can be equally proud of our tech and how we do things as we are about our product. This role will be based in our Stockholm office.

What you will do

As you are managing an organisation of software engineers, you have to have a big interest in software development and will be comfortable facilitating technical discussions like architecture to enable our engineers to make sound decisions. Prior experience as a software engineer is a plus but not required since you are not expected to do hands on coding. A good delivery mindset, being a leader in agile frameworks and an interest in understanding user needs will definitely help you excel in this role.

The Mentimeter Product organization is in constant motion and evolves continuously as we grow. The same will be true for this role, so if you like to be part of shaping the future for your own role as well as the team and organization, this is a role for you.

You will report to the VP Engineering and work in close collaboration with the CTO, area leads, and leading engineering domain experts to ensure your area thrives.

  • Engineering Area Leadership - Representing engineering in the area leadership trio.

  • Tech delivery - Plan and Deliver on product area strategies that are aligned with company priorities

  • Line management of Engineering Managers. Coaching them to grow in their leadership.

  • Staffing and Recruitment - Recruitment, retention, and staff management.

  • Tech vision and strategy - Set and drive towards the tech vision and strategy for the Area as well as being a contributing factor for overall strategy.

  • Sound engineering - ensuring investments in engineering are done to maximize the engineering experience as well as the outcome of our work.

  • Engineering culture work - Ensuring that we actively work with culture development from an engineering perspective as well as ensuring it is in line with the overall Mentimeter company culture.

  • Operational efficiency - establishing necessary key performance metrics and following up and reporting the operational efficiency.

Work with great people

"Johanna is Mentimeter’s badass Head of Engineering. When she is not working on our tech strategy in the office, she spends her time in the tennis court or horse backriding with her kids."
Product Manager
"One of the reasons why Karina joined Menti is our dog friendly culture and the opportunities for pup snuggles! Born in Chile, she has lived in the US and Denmark and is a true cosmopolitan!"
Director of Engineering (Commercial)
"From being a fullstack engineer hacking in Ruby since 2004 to a CTO role, Kristian found his balance as an area lead in our Engineering team at Mentimeter. Also, world’s greatest dad!"
