We are looking for a driven Project Manager to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Advanced R&D team based in Västerås and Stockholm. By joining us, you will be a key player in developing an even more sustainable and competitive product and contribute to the global transition towards a clean and carbon-neutral energy future.

About the job

You will be the Project Manager for one of our advanced R&D projects and work with timeline, scenarios, resource planning and strategic challenges which will have a significant impact in the success of this project. You will be responsible for aligning project members in cell design, materials engineering, manufacturing and purchasing as well as with the project's customer.

On a day-to-day basis you will be very close with the R&D engineering team and relevant partners and suppliers to identify and resolve blockers and risks. This means working in a cross-functional, project-based environment to help set the strategic direction of this R&D project, support internal initiatives, and execute strategic partnerships within the longer timeline of this new product. As this job requires working very tightly with the R&D team, you need to have a technical understanding and interest, whilst being a great communicator with a variety of stakeholders and internal customers.

You are expected to be very creative in finding solutions to push both yourself and your colleagues from various teams to ensure progress is made in the project. You need to be up to speed on constantly changing circumstances and evaluate proposed solutions from different stakeholders perspectives, making non-biased decisions that are the most beneficial overall.

About the team

You will join a fairly new effort and thus a small but dedicated team which will grow with the progress of this project. This role gives you the opportunity to be part of an exciting new project from the beginning and allows you to grow and take on additional responsibility fast. The dedicated core team includes cell designer, process engineers and material engineers, however, this project requires cross-functional contribution across the entire organization which will be one of the main responsibilities of this role. In this position, you will join a passionate team that is driven by creating an even more sustainable product which will make significant impact for Northvolt and the transition towards a greener future.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the project's progress regarding timeline, specs and cost targets
  • Drive interdisciplinary workstreams (e.g. cost engineering, supply chain management)
  • Coordinate the project with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare strategic project decisions for the NV management
  • Support with cross-functional resource planning

The person we are looking for is intrinsically motivated by our mission, ambitious, curious and eager to learn. You will get the chance to have a real impact for the future of energy and see the results of your work. Our organization values great self-discipline and a natural talent to make things happen. Qualities that we cherish are sense of quality, friendliness, grit and a sense of humor.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
