Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) is looking for a strategic marketing and communications professional who is highly proficient in using social media and other digital tools and platforms to increase brand awareness, conversion, and engagement.
To propel the company brand's image through consistent messaging and content development that draws the tech and startup ecosystem to MEST.
Key Responsibilities: Content Creation
Develop and share weekly insightful and engaging content that attracts and converts key targets within the African and global tech ecosystem
Work with the Creative team & various agencies to develop high-quality multi-media contents that tell compelling brand stories
Highlight achievements and stories from our community across MEST platforms
Prepare and publish blogs and articles on various topics in the ecosystem and success stories within the community
Run paid and organic pan-African campaigns that increase awareness, preference, and applications to core MEST programs (Training Program, MEST Africa Challenge & Summit, etc)
Digital Media Management
Own and manage a monthly content calendar with scheduled content from all programs & units
Responsible for scheduling and posting all contents
Consistently engage our online community and manage conversations across platforms to increase engagement and drive brand affinity
Continuously gather and share the online community’s feedback, sentiments, and analytics with the Marketing & Community team
Use insights and findings from the online communities to develop better content and engagement
Curate all content on the website and optimize for increased visits and conversions
Own and manage the email marketing/CRM platform and all emails sent out to our community
Ensure proper audience segmentation
Increase subscriptions and reduce unsubscriptions
Work with the Head of Marketing to handle all media engagement; own, earned and paid media
Liaise with media to help the brand gain exposure in local, national, and international media
Develop a deep understanding of our core audiences and industry (the start-up and technology space) through continuous market research and platform analysis
Prepare and share regular audience insights and recommendations to improve brand awareness, conversion, and engagement
Skills & Requirements
A minimum of a BSc degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Project Management or relevant field with at least 4 to 5 years of experience working in marketing, communications, and/or public relations.
Excellent ability to develop creative and original content that converts
Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Good at public speaking and copywriting
Proactive and good at taking initiative and selling ideas to the leadership team
Practical knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp or CRM tools, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Medium, Google Ads & Analytics
Good understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
Good understanding of social media KPIs
Eager to learn and apply new technologies and ideas
Experience in the start-up and tech ecosystem is preferred
