Get there first; be the first to detect and diagnose high-severity service-impacting events.
Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues and engage engineering teams and mission owners to assist with resolution. Solve the problem vs. treat the symptoms.
Reduce mean time to resolution for all incident types.
Update and/or build world-class listening systems.
Participate in a “follow the sun” rotation split across a globally spread team.
Contribute to the creation of documentation and design of new standard operating procedures
Develop tools that will improve the organization's ability to track incidents and help engineering teams improve confidence in their components’ ability to handle failure.
Limited travel is expected.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
A degree in Computer Science or at least three years of relevant experience in a large-scale online technical operations environment.
Excellent English-language written and verbal communication skills to facilitate efficient and effective interaction with peers and customers.
Performance and Configuration Management.
At least one scripting language i.e. Python, bash, Ruby etc.
Relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux and good understanding of networking concepts.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and a commitment to documenting discovery and findings.
Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
Java and/or Node.js
Familiarity/Experience with Concept of Chaos Engineering
