We are looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Specialist / BAS-U to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Health Safety Environment (HSE) team based in Borlänge. By joining us, you will be a key player in contributing to a great safety culture and contributing to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job and team
As Health and Safety Specialist / BAS-U you will have the responsibility and contribute to a construction that is built according to Swedish work environment legislation. You will work intimately with the construction team and participate in the coordination of contractors, and the execution to secure a safe work environment during the construction and commissioning phase. In general, you have a lot of experience in the field and have been working in large scale construction projects with high demands on safety.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing the health & safety activities on the construction site.
  • Participate in the planning of the work activities and ensure that common working environment aspects are considered when working methods and work equipment are chosen, when the different work is planned and when the planning is done.
  • The responsibilities include requesting information about the contractors' working methods and what equipment they use and how they fulfill Swedish/European work environment legislations.
  • Review conducted risk analyzes and method statements (RAMS)to ensure that these are carried out in accordance with Northvolt’s standards.
  • Ensure that the work environment plan has all adjustments made and is available at the construction site and is well known by everyone working at the site.
  • Ensure that the respective employers at the workplace have ensured that lifting devices, excavators and other machinery are controlled and have a 3:d party approval and that drivers of such devices have sufficient competence or, where appropriate, the necessary permits.
  • Ensure that all contractors and other parties have relevant introduction and information for the health, safety and environment of the building and construction site.
  • Ensure that incidents and accidents are reported, investigated, and corrected, and to regularly communicate these in accordance with Northvolt's routines.
  • Ensure that only authorized persons have access to the workplace.

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • Certification as BAS-U
  • Experience of conducting building and civil engineering work
  • Experience of coordinating, directing, or managing construction projects and project preparation
  • Experience in similar tasks in large scale building and construction projects
  • Knowledge in work environment and training in relevant Swedish work environment provision regarding building and construction
  • Great English and Swedish written and oral skills
  • Knowledge in CE-marking
  • Knowledge in relevant Swedish standards regarding building and construction

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in the manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Japanese, Swedish, Chinese, French)
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment
