Job Description

As a Backend Team Lead, you consider yourself responsible for individual growth and competence development, to lead the group members to grow their career, coaching and support to assure high employee engagement. You don't mind travelling from time to time to meet with other team members.

The Backend Team Lead is responsible for helping the employees in that group to set individual development goals, offer guidance on how to grow their skill set in alignment with the business needs. The Backend Team Lead is the direct manager for the people reporting to him/her which includes onboarding, performance reviews, vacation approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and coach the team

  • Design, develop, test, and document advanced eCommerce solutions for our clients

  • Work with the development of both client-specific and generic modules for Magento and system integrations

  • Set and revise goals. Communicate around the business strategy, purpose and specific needs of the future, to guide the employee in setting meaningful goals in alignment with business needs.

  • Plan for development: based on the set goals, make a plan for competence development needed to reach the goals. Agree on actions needed and whom to seek support from.

  • Make sure expectations are clear and to help define actions to support reaching the goals.

  • Follow up on the progress and revise the goals on an ongoing basis.

  • Enable cross teams knowledge sharing sessions.

  • Competence planning and recruitment together with Technical Manager and other Competence Leads

  • Make sure new employees get proper onboarding (assigning a mentor and plan for role specific onboarding).

Skills & Requirements
  • Expertise in leading the team, setting individual development goals, offering guidance on how to grow their skill set in alignment with the business needs.

  • Experienced in the full software development cycle, from planning to deployment

  • Hands-on Magento 2 experience

  • Experienced in LAMP stack (Linux, Apache/Nginx, MySQL, PHP7) and Docker

  • Experienced in OOP, knowledge of design patterns

  • Experience in Web Server stack is highly beneficial: Apache, HAProxy, Varnish, Redis, Ubuntu Server

  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, both verbal and written

  • Flexibility to adjust to new processes

  • Capable of estimating/forecasting time to complete specified project tasks
