Do you have a experience from risk modelling? Are you keen on using your skills and knowledge in the global maritime industry? Would you like to ensure that Gard makes decisions based on reliable input? Then look no further.

We are looking for an Internal Risk Model Validator who can control and challenge the methodology and output of the internal risk capital model. The Model Validator will be part of the Controlling department and candidate is expected to participate in financial planning, performance management and capital management, in addition to model validation.

The internal risk capital model is widely used in Gard as a tool for estimating risk, monitoring capital adequacy, and as a basis for central decisions regarding risk and capitalisation. In addition, Gard is one of only two Norwegian insurers to have obtained approval from the Norwegian FSA (Finanstilsynet) to use the internal model for regulatory purposes.

Key responsibilities;

  • Monitor the internal model's performance
  • Perform independent quantitative and qualitative validation of the internal model’s results, governance and documentation on a regular and ad-hoc basis
  • Being able to demonstrate to the governing bodies and supervisory authorities that the results are appropriate
  • Keeping up to date on industry standards and regulations
  • Assess whether changes in the global risk picture may be relevant for the risk model
  • Communicate the results of model validation activities, model limitations and uncertainties to key stakeholders
  • Ensure that system qualification and process validation are in accordance with the relevant quality requirements
  • Document work process and results through formal model validation reports
  • Participate in capital management processes, such as assessing capital structures and the use of capital throughout the group and coordinate and follow up vis-à-vis our rating agency

Who are you;

  • You have excellent quantitative and analytical skills, along with an ability to apply those skills across a variety of business processes
  • You have a good attention to detail and at the same time ability to see such details as part of the bigger picture
  • You have a background as an analyst, statistician, actuary, or economist
  • You are able to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and externals
  • You have strong communication skills both orally and verbally, and are comfortable with using English as a working language
  • You have an interest in continuous learning and personal development
  • Knowledge of Solvency 2 and/or Basel regulations might be considered an advantage.
