We are looking for an experienced Lead Design Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our Manufacturing Engineering team based in Stockholm, Sweden. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing a world class Equipment Design team and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job

We are continuously building a team of both experienced engineers and great leaders with an engineering background.

The Lead Design Engineer will be an expert in one or several defined process areas which includes deep knowledge in battery systems prototype/production process and equipment design, automation equipment development, equipment integrator management, equipment validation, equipment installation, prototype building and new product industrialization.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Development and delivery of manual, semi-automated, and automated manufacturing equipment platforms for deployment across multiple process product formats, including development of design standards
  • Lead and coach a small team of equipment design engineers to deliver manual, semi-automatic, and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Design an equipment development and deployment process to ensure designs are in line with required manufacturing process and business requirements
  • Co-ordination with key internal stake holders including, including process, automation, product, quality, and program functions

  • Develop and review project planning documents such as project timelines, RFI/RFQs, FMEAs, Safety Risk Assessments, maintenance schedules, Requirements/Specifications, and Key Equipment Parameters

Skills & Requirements

We believe that you have :

  • BSc or MSc degree in Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience within equipment design and development
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Experience with evolving products, processes, and equipment from prototype scale to production scale
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with relevant technologies such as:
    • Laser sources, optical setups, laser process monitoring equipment
    • Dispensing systems for adhesives, sealants, thermal interface materials
    • Production line sensors including profilometers, vision systems
    • Factory automation including PLCs, robots, AGVs, MES
    • Electrical or battery testing systems
  • Experience and interest in battery manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Polish, Swedish, German, Chinese)
